Why do so many always talk themselves into Judah?

I posted a couple of days ago in a thread that the way Judah is ALWAYS overrated going into big fights is the biggest mystery of my aware of boxing life. Seriously, every time Judah gets an important fight, quite a few people end up saying the same thing: If Judah is mentally right, he'll win.

Going into the fight last night, many had talked themselves into Zab yet again, saying he had changed, saying Pernell had him mentally right, and that a mentally right Judah would beat Khan. Then, when Khan kicked his ass like he should, I've seen a few posters saying "Wow, I thought Judah had changed, I can't believe he went out like that."

I want to know why Judah has this kind of support. When did he ever show he could fight at the level so many say he is capable of? When has Zab Judah ever shown himself to be some special, elite level fighter? Why is he always so overrated?

Yeah there is some myth about Judah that makes people "think" he's going to win his next big fight, I remember the Cotto fight and I was actually thinking Judah would win and how he has changed etc but it's the same old story, the weird thing is Judah would end up getting another chance somewhere somehow..

Judah has incredible gifts, always looks to be in tremendous physical shape and as a boxing fan you just want him to realize his talent. But something happened to Zab after the Tsyzu fight. He started throwing a weak jab and also loads up on either two straight lefts around, or one hard left uppercut or the occasional right cross. He has a lot of pop and the times he lands those punches they are game changers against inferior opponents. Top fighters figure him out and then exploited him. He does not fight intelligently.

Could have been so much more

The hostile reaction I've seen about Judah is amazing to me. Did those that are so mad at the way Judah went out really expect something else? That's just Zab Judah.

And yeah, he'll probably get another chance. And boxing fans will talk themselves into him again.

And that, my friend, is the mystery.

I have been trying to work this out for close to a decade now. I believed in Judah in the 90's and early 00's, even after Kosta Tzsyu.

But people who think he is going to beat top competition this day and age even when you break down how he won't just have some alarming mental issues.

Judah v Alexander will probably happen for a vacant belt (cant see Khan and Bradley holding onto their belts without getting stripped)

It should have become clear to everyone when he lost to Baldomir. That was the peak of his career, and the one time I thought he may be what everyone wanted him to be. He was the recognized welterweight champion, he had a fight with Floyd Mayweather on the horizon, and then he went out and lost to Carlos Baldomir. That was the moment for me when I realized Zab Judah is nothing special.

People are probably hostile towards Judah because he looks like a fighter with all the natural skills sets, But nothing surprises me about him or the outcome of his fights, people are still hang up about the Corey spinks fight but they forgot that it took Judah 2 fights to beat spinks, And like you said we should have all seen the light or signs after he lost to Baldomir..

i think it was the punch he landed on the ref after Kostya knocked him silly in 2rds that excited the people.
