    .
You have no knowledge of his body fat percentage at weigh in time.

Just hush up man. You are out of your element.

        • Total bull Vb Martin, Corrales again is not a natural lightweight, the guy is a tall fighter, he can make the weight, did u see the fight?Castillo fought brilliantly those three rounds, excellent counterpunching!

This thread clearly illustrates you as a poster:

When fighters are trying to make weight, they dehyrate themselves, sometimes even making sure there is nothing in their bowels, so that when they step on the scales all their weight is muscle and bone.
After the weigh in, they rehydrate, replenishing their bodily fluids, so they step into the ring heavier, closer to their "walking around weight".

When a fighter comes in nearly 4 lbs heavier at the weigh in, that is muscle mass, as they have already drained their body of all excess fluids.

Regardless of the fact that Corrales (might have) weighed more than Castillo when they stepping into the ring, Castillo couldn't make the contracted weight because he was carrying extra muscle.

Last I heard, muscle is stronger than water.

If you can't understand after that explanation I will have to conclude it's because you don't want to. I know from experience on here that you're a knowledgable fan.
no I get what youre saying, I just think its splitting hairs, and a bit lame. I hate for anyone to take away from his win when he was so clearly cheated in the first fight.
and thanks for the compliment (errr, I think ) Gotta love those back handed ones!

It was a compliment. You're one of the few on here who I think I could actually sit and watch a match with.

Corrales was expecting to weigh-in at 135 and fight at 150. That's exactly what Castillo was trying to do, except he missed the mark on the 135. Can an extra 2-3 lbs of muscle make a difference when both guys are weighing in at 150 come fight time? Personally, I can't say. I honestly think Corrales went down much easier this time because the fight was only six months from the last one. Corrales took a severe beating, and I'm more apt to believe his body hadn't fully recovered before I'll believe that an extra couple pounds of muscle gave Castillo extreme KO power.

                  • hmm

Actually, you are mistaken, VBMartin. I know this because I actually do fight.

The reason Castillo was overweight was because he knew he couldn't make weight due to inuring a rib in camp, which means he lost training time and couldn't burn all the fight he is used to burning. Additionally, fighters do not lose muscle mass to make weight hardly ever. Rarely it happens. Either way it was a no issue in this fight because Castillo had a bit of xtra fat on him and WATER because he kne he wouldn't make weight and decided to start hydrating himself a bit.

                    So there ya go, Tracy.
