hmmm, I didnt see them fight on the scales...I saw them fight in the ring, where both fighters weighed more.

If he couldn't make the weight, the most likely conclusion is that he had more muscle mass in this fight. More muscle mass = more power. That extra muscle mass was also brought into the ring.

I honestly don't know if it made a difference, just like it's impossible to say if the mouthpiece had an effect on the last fight since Corrales popped right back up, in full possession of all his faculties.

All it does, in the end, is create controversy in both fights.

You left something out: more mass = more power. It doesn't have to be muscle.

word has it that chico outweighed castillo. what about his muscle mass? How anybody can make that argument when chico weighed more too is beyond me.

I think Corrales lost because he contemplated spitting out his mouth piece. He then remembered that he would automatically lose two points if he did, so he decided not to do it. If he had not contemplated for those two extra seconds, he would have been up and ready! Anyway, how soon will it be before someone posts the animated GIF of Corrales getting KO'ed?

Tracy, I've always thought of you as one of the smarter posters on here, I never thought I would have to explain this to you.

When fighters are trying to make weight, they dehyrate themselves, sometimes even making sure there is nothing in their bowels, so that when they step on the scales all their weight is muscle and bone.
After the weigh in, they rehydrate, replenishing their bodily fluids, so they step into the ring heavier, closer to their "walking around weight".

When a fighter comes in nearly 4 lbs heavier at the weigh in, that is muscle mass, as they have already drained their body of all excess fluids.

Regardless of the fact that Corrales (might have) weighed more than Castillo when they stepping into the ring, Castillo couldn't make the contracted weight because he was carrying extra muscle.

Last I heard, muscle is stronger than water.

If you can't understand after that explanation I will have to conclude it's because you don't want to. I know from experience on here that you're a knowledgable fan.
