cotto is better than anything on "the floyd list".

Margarito and clottey are probably better than baldomir and jmm (due to weight), but i still say margs is faded and clottey had a brain tumor or something.

all in all small edge to pac. both should be fighting better opposition.
In your opinion, (you seem quite a sensible poster) would you say that the past 6 opponents of Pacquiao were significantly easier to hit than Mayweather's, thus skrewering the accuracy stats?

slightly. dont know if its enough to have a big impact on the stats. also not sure if the stats say that much.

There are 2 points I don't think anyone has made...

Since Marquez, Pac's opponents have tended to be more stationary targets that are there to be hit (I'm looking at you weight Margarito and weight drained ODH and Cotto) and...

While Pacquiao throws a lot of spectacular combinations and is very accurate with his power shots, he opens himself up for counters and takes more punishment in return (see JMM) than Mayweather who's pot shotting style and slick defense keep the damage inflicted on him to a minimum, increasing the effectiveness of his accuracy.

seriously how many fights did you see the numbers skewed towards the bigger name? punches hitting gloves and elbow being counted as landed power shots

compubox numbers are so unreliable specially with power punches

i really think it would be more accurate to look at pacs career pre delahoya. Theres a lot of weird things factoring in like delahoya having no energy and hatton getting blasted in the blink of an eye. Clottey just standing there like a ******. Etc etc.

Also for you statgeeks. Look at how mannys punching output changes when hes infront of a counterpuncher. Could be quite interesting.

Thats actually what my post basically state... Its two totally different styles.....

But pac is fighting more stationary targets. When you look at delahoya and carlos baldomir, floyd could not simply try and out**** them as he was clearly the smaller man both times....
                MARGARITO = NO FOOT WORK
DELAHOYA = DEHYDRATED AT A WEIGHT HE HADNT FOUGHT AT IN YEARS....

CARLLOS BALDOMIR, WHILE CARLOS DEFINTELY WASNT BETTER THAN MARGARITO IMHO, I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THAT FIGHT AS CARLOS WOULD GET YOUR ASS OUTTA THERE IF YOU TRYING TO JUST ****, BECAUSE HE COMES IN SO HEAVY.

BUT WHEN MANNY FOUGHT MARGARITO THERE WAS A SMALL WEIGHT DIFFERENCE WHEN FLOYD FOUGHT BALDOMIR THERE WAS A HUGE DIFFERENCE....

DO WE SEE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IF THE WEIGHT ADVANTAGES THAT FLOYD HAD AGAINST HIM WERE AGAINST PAC?

COULD PAC HANDLE A 160+ DELAHOYA ON THE SAME NIGHT FLOYD FOUGHT HIM??

OR COULD PAC HANDLE A 165 POUND CLOTTEY? OR WHAT ABOUT A 160 POUND MARGARITO??

LETS KEEP IT REAL IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN PAC HAS WEIGHED IN MORE THAN DELAHOYA OR COTTO CANT REMEMBER WHICH ONE......LOL

Nothing impressive about Floyd accuracy, he punches so little.
It his defense which is amazing.

Being able to maintain high percentage even when you are punching so much is alot more impressive.
                  Pacman wins.

Overall they are both accurate just with different styles. The punches landed doesn't differ that much, only with the jabs and power shots. pacquiao doesnt lands his jab, he uses it as his measurement and to set his different angle combinations while mayweather's jab is already his killer punch. mayweather used to be really good in combinations before.

To give credit to pac. mayweather already punches little but still lands the same percentage as pac. he should have a lead of atleast 25%
