Not buying this . This is the mentality of a ******* in disguise .Julio Cesar Chavez is the baddest man on the planet.
To suggest Martinez, with his collection of "victories" over cherry-picked cab drivers and 135lb goat-farmers, could hang with Chavez for more than 6 rounds is laughable. Better men than Martinez have tried and failed. Chavez would decimate and retire Martinez; a fact that Sergio is well aware of.
Chavez is the legitimate middleweight champion of the world: Martinez can't be the first, but he can be the next ; you can run Sergio, but you can't hide - 43 have tried and 43 have failed.Comment

Las Vegas-based promotional outfit Top Rank isn't too keen on risking their middleweight titlist Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. against the recognized kingpin of the division Sergio Martinez, and neither is HBO.

if chavez isnt ready than he has no business with the belt.. imo the champ should be ready for anyone at the weight class he holds the belt in.Comment

Sure, but that is not Chavez' fault.
He did not make the rules, he is just playing by them.
Dont hate the playa, hate the game.
When we have one definitive sanctioning body, then you will get what you want.
Until then, Chavez gets to continue to develop " on the job ", and you get to pray every night that a worthy challenger manages to work his way into a mandatory position that will actually be enforced.Comment

Yeah, you on it. When promoters and broadcasters protect their investments by bypassing top-flight challengers, their fighters are belt-holders, not true champions. I reserve that title only for those who have the appropriate resumes.Comment
