if you want to have a serious boxing discussion don't involve drug testing.

there's unfinished business between the two men
if you've been watching boxing since '05 then you've seen two classic, even fights between the two

it's most unfortunate that the weight is far beyond where marquez can be viable, but he's still got manny pacquiao figured out technically
he's given him his toughest fights of recent memory

if that doesn't warrant a rematch i cant tell you what does.
great fighters have fought trilogies when the first two fights were close for as long as they've been fighting

you wouldn't be talking about this if floyd mayweather waste a marketing genius
and the bulk of the casual boxing fans (which is all you are if you actually participate in such banter) are dumb as rocks and easy to control
I'm an active fan, although I've only been into boxing for 3 years so my knowledge isn't at the same level as many older guys (I don't even remember Tyson-Lewis). I can tell you straight that I ain't dumb as rocks - I can tell a marketing ploy when I see one.

I actually disagree with you on the point about boxing discussions not needing to include drugs. I know that the whole PEDquiao issue has been stoked by the Mayweathers, but only an idiot would deny that Pac's behaviour and performances in the ring raise certain questions. You are right in that pointing the finger of blame does nothing for the sport, and that is not what I am trying to do, but it is clear that the drug issue needs sorting out for the good of boxing. It could transpire that many top level fighters including Pacquiao have been using PEDs. Where would that leave the recent history of our favourite sport? I believe fans should put pressure on the sanctioning bodies to step up the level of testing.

if thats what u wanna consider it...but 3 in a row? arguably 4 if u consider clottey what he really is, a gatekeeper? the top p4p fighter should not be fighting 3 tune ups in a row. say what u want about mayweather but ive never seen him fight 3 tune ups in a row.

Well I hope this "tune up" goes horribly wrong.

If anyone cares, i don't think Mayweather in his absolute prime either.
Pacquiao was very impressive against Margarito, he did take it easy especially in the last two rounds though. We gotta see against Marquez.

I have EXTREMELY mixed feelings about this fight for a variety of reasons. First of all Marquez is certainly on the decline, he's still a great boxer but he is absolutely outside of his prime. Secondly clearly this weight is not Marquez's ideal weight which is evidenced by the fact that he immediately went back to 135 after fighting Mayweather, so even he felt it wasn't a good weight for him. However, I don't think Marquez will concern himself with his weight for this fight at all, meaning I don't think he is going to attempt to gain any more weight than he would if he was fighting at 135. He weighed in at 138 the other night for his tuneup and I don't expect him to weigh in much if any higher than 140 for the Pac fight. The biggest issue with the weight here is that Pac is not going to have to lose much to make the weight. Contrary to what most people think I still do not feel Pac is that much bigger than he was 3 years ago, he just doesn't have to dehydrate himself any more to make weight. These guys are going to weigh about the same on fight night as they did 3 years ago, but Pac is going to feel stronger because he didn't have to dehydrate to make weight.

Stylistically if Marquez still has gas in tank he is still a nightmare matchup for Pac. He is the second best counter puncher is the world, he has a tremendous straight right, great jab, throws combinations, has good movement, and can fight going backwards. My main question in this fight is: will Marquez be able to handle Pac's power at this weight? if the answer is yes then I think Marquez can be competitive in this fight (if he still has gas in the tank), if the answer is no then we could be looking at a mismatch.

none will be raised and none will be answered. this is an older and heavier marquez manny will be fighting, there's absolutely nothing to gain besides a nice paycheck and possibly some more nuthugging from his uneducated fans
