That is not helping but to show off your money. Manny gives money, rice, etc.. PERSONALLY. A big difference while burning your dollar bills at strip clubs, you just hire someone to do the hard work giving the poor a frozen turkey and don't care how they suppose to cook that. lol

Yes, most of the people who find this entire concept offensive do not understand Filipino culture like people who are from there. Nobody in this thread has made fun of the actual humanitarian work Pacquiao does (and he has done a TON of it.) What everyone is skeptical about is that Pac makes a game show and people are saying, "he made a game show to fight poverty." That is the equivalent of me giving a couple people some condoms and proclaiming I have begun a nationwide crusade against AIDS...That is not helping but to show off your money. Manny gives money, rice, etc.. PERSONALLY. A big difference while burning your dollar bills at strip clubs, you just hire someone to do the hard work giving the poor a frozen turkey and don't care how they suppose to cook that. lol
Also I noticed in this thread someone said that only the Pope can judge Pacquiao...if you believe an old European man in a very tall hat really speaks to God, you've got your own problems.Last edited by Everywhere; 07-20-2011, 01:14 AM.Comment

There's nothing wrong with this but the fact that it claims to try and 'alleviate poverty' or 'fight poverty' is not right - they could use the production cost/money and all the prizes and use it more wisely. You don't alleviate poverty or fight poverty by giving out cash and prizes.
And yes I'm perfectly aware that Pacquiao has given generously and has done genuine good for his country - no one is ignoring that but in this instance while it will benefit some people its effect on fighting poverty in a broader sense will disappoint.
Some people are way too defensive rofl.Last edited by Phil Ivey; 07-20-2011, 12:58 AM.Comment

i think that some posters are not really aware of the ins and outs of a game show....or any tv show...There's nothing wrong with this but the fact that it claims to try and 'alleviate poverty' or 'fight poverty' is not right - they could use the production cost/money and all the prizes and use it more wisely. sponsors will gladly give funds for a game show specially if it is one that will be viewed most and by the most number of audiences....that is advertising......
just as an example, a sponsor will not find it hard to put a house and lot up for grabs in a game show that will be viewed by millions.....
many will be quick to the draw that it is just a tit for tat...
maybe so....
but one getting a house and lot is not to be getting any poorer, is it?...
many people are still poor, not only in the philippines.....
but many people enjoy watching their favorite stars, comedians, singers, dancers, athletes and other celebrities even in a game/tv show..hence, the shows...
what is wrong in giving out something to the poor while at it????
some will easily dismiss pac's show as nothing more than a selfish step to poster his political agenda....no one can stop them..they see what they want to see...
but motive is the most difficult thing to prove in any court.....Comment

Pacquiao Brand in the Philippines is currently one of the most sellable brands in the Philippines, you put Manny their, ratings ****es and the sponsors will come resulting to more prizes to give ...

so whats the big fuzz about it? let him do whatever he wants
it's not like he's ripping off and bragging about it
personally i think gameshows like that really aren't making things better but does anyone have any good idea how to fight it?
it's his own way of helping, let him be....since when do you care about about someone who really needs help in your hood?Comment
