Very harsh, too brave for his own good.

Why his corner told him he needed to win the last round I don't know.

Floyd has talked a few times that he want to leave boxing with his faculties intact.

A fight with Pacquiao could well damage Floyd and Floyd knows this.

I think Chavez only landed half as many punches as Taylor did in that fight, but look at the state of the two men at the end of the fight and their careers after it.

Why should Floyd risk his health and well being to face Pacquiao?

Whats the point of this thread? Mayweather isn't a a Philly fighter, that was Taylor's downfall, just too aggressive for his own good. Obviously, his corner should have done a better job but thats besides the point.

As to whether Mayweather fears what happened to Taylor, i think every fighter entering the ring worries about that in the back of their minds. But Floyd knows his ring generalship and defensive mastery wont allow that to happen.

...so again, the point of this is what?

you think Floyd's some soft punk? Its just as likely that he could put a hurting on Pac and stop him.

              just incase it is

No, it isn't Mexican boxing 101 is Heart....

it's the difference between a knock down and a knock out ,a loss or a win in a close fight.

Heart is VERY relevant in boxing ..

Taylor was not soft, nor is Floyd, but he will get hit harder and more often than any of his previous fights.

Pacquiao has dealt with bigger punchers and more agressive fighters than Floyd.

Floyd does have pride and doesn't like to lose and that could cost him his health.

Fair play to Floyd he will get out of boxing with his faculties intact not having taken the tough fights and made loads of money.

Why be a hero like Taylor and other great fighters when you will end up broke and with health issue in your retirement.

Craziest thing about this fight is this is one of those fights where you see it differently the second time you watch it.

First time I watched it live, I remember seeing Chavez losing and thinking his undefeated record was history. How he was getting dominated by Taylor.

When I watched it again, I noticed the beating Taylor was taking. Some of those shots were BRUTAL. Shots most men don't stay up taking. The body work and counter right hand by Chavez was landing at will after round 9.

Meldrick Taylor lost his career in that fight.
