Ryan has good intentions. I can see that he is a fan of the sport, but sometimes his posts lack common sense. Mark, you're the last person who I expected to keep this "civil". Are you on meds or something?

Pacquiao is a character. He's "David" the little guy who beats up all the big men. That's what made him the star he is today.

De La Hoya was the good looking soft spoken model who drew all the female fans.

These guys were characters. They are the good guys.

De La Hoya and Pacquiao both had boring fights before yet they never lost fans. Care to explain why?

Like Mark said, Brock Lesnar is that big strong viking and even know after a brutal loss he would still do 1million PPV buys. Why? Because Brock isn't Shane Mosley. De la hoya isn't Shane Mosley. Pacquiao isn't Shane Mosley.

The superstar will always be around. Todays society & culture demands it and so do the TV stations and press / newspapers - it helps business all round

Canelo is waiting to take the mantle from Pacquiao - so the next superstar is already born and just waiting patiently until the rest of the media back him once Pacquiao is gone.

new ones will always come. It will be a passing of the torch.

And when Manny and Floyd leaves, the networks will finally start to promote the younger guys heavily, something they should already be doing.
