Very true. He's in the same boat as Davide Haye. An ex-cruiserweight turned HVWT champ...

But google Evan Fields.... Granite, I heard Holyfield was willing to take the test though....

Nonito Donaire is much older than Pacquiao, Pacquiao was at 106 as a 16 year old. Nonito is 28 now and became famous for beating Darchinyan. That was what, 3 or 4 years a go max.

Nonito has a defer resume, but PAC had better and fought much better opponents. If you can hang with hit at the lower weights such as Barrera and Morales, then I would assume you can go up and hang with some C and B level guys.

Of course it depends on how much weight you jump up at. Pacquiao hasn't touched the top of the weigh in limit since hmm I think, or David Diaz. He certainly isn't a huge welter.

Soto beat David Diaz by stoppage or ko, I think recently.

Anyway Nonito can go up and do well IMo, but his advantage is his size advantage over others. He has ski, power and some speed, but he looks huge vs most guys his weight.
Donaire could most likely go up.

It's not unknown of smaller guys doing well vs bigger guys in sparring either.

The problem wih going up in weight is, do you hold any advantage?

Such as Khan. At 135 he was huge, a fairly big puncher for 135,5 foot 10 with a lot of speed, but a weak chin.

At 140, he hasn't been dropped while at 135 he was dropped by a guy with 5 ko's. Not just dropped, but badly hurt that it was an eight count.

Now at 140, his chin is a mlion times better than how very bad it was. Prescott of course was a bad ko.

Now, Khan does lose size advantage at 140 but is still fairly tall. He still has speed, but his power isn't so much. It's ok.

I am not sure if he kept his ko ratio the same, but he has faced a lot harder guys.

This is somethig to consider. Did you face easy ass guys lower down or not?

Or did you face better quality guys lower down and easier guys going up?

No, I think you have a guilty conscious.

It has nothing to do with him (see I won't even say his name)...

            I disagree...

I think he's a huge welterweight. Mosley, who's fought everyone under the sun, said Pac hits harder than anyone he's ever faced....

Honestly, I think pac is a beast. At 147, I think he's a mixture of Margarito (regarding punch output. See 100 punches a round vs clottey), Cotto (Regarding power. only he hits harder), and Mayweather (As far as speed. I think he might be a tad bit faster).

Holyfield was a REAL undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, Haye was never even close to that.

I wouldn't say he didn't have a chin or was weight drained. He didn't get to be the undisputed cruiserweight champ by getting KO'd....

I can tell most of you guys don't follow the sport as you don't even have to go back in history to find fighters who have retained there power moving up.

                  Here are some examples:

                  1. Nonito Donaire-dude was a monster at 112, and is just as vicious of a puncher at 118 (ask former champs Siderenko and Montiel)

                  2. Sergio Martinez- dude couldn't stop Cintron and other fighters at 154, but at 160 he has monstrous power.

                  3. Juan Manuel Marquez-great FW, but since moving to LW he has stopped everyone he has faced.

                  4. Vic Darchinyan-he has kept his power moving up, but people think he hasn't because of the Agbecko fight. Well King Kong has the best chin in boxing bar none so you can kinda disregard that fight.

                  5. Jhonny Gonzales is alot stronger since moving up.

I will stop here but alot of it is improved technique (Martinez and Pacquiao) change in style (Marquez) or just not draining themselves or filling out (Cotto, Gonzalez and others.

Let's actually follow the sport instead of posting/feeding into bull**** consiracy threads.

I say he isn't a huge WW in terms of size. He's fairly short and doesn't go up too much from 147. He can eat on the day of the fight, while others stop at what, Tues or Wednesday.

However Yes I agree he has good speed, power, and workrate, which he has always had pretty much. However he is landing more shots.
I guess it all depends on who he fights and what they do.

Mosely has more power to me. He actually KO'd Marg, or TKO, but dropped him. PAC didn't.
Mosely has also gone up in weight and KO'd Mayorga at 154.
Pac has more combination speed than mayweather, and potshot speed is about the same to me. PAC was faster at 126 from a video clip I saw than at 147.

I'm fact I wonder what Mosely's ko ratio is from when be was in the lower weights.

Then again, he has lost quite a few times going ip.

What you say is true to an extent. Martinez started at 147, he just hit 160... He's gone up 13lbs, which is nothing substantial considering the amount of time he's been fighting.

Regarding the other fighters you mentioned, keep in mind those lower weight classes are separated by a few pounds, repectively. I wouldn't go as far to saying that's really moving up that much in weight, but ok...
