Maybe he didn't want to take the bribe. Looks to me like the Pac Mosely fight was fixed. You can disagree that's fine. Call it how you see it. That's just how I saw it. With all the stuff going on with Mosely's divorce, I'm even more inclined to believe he would take anything extra that he could get.Comment

So, why fix the Clottey fight, but not, say, the Margarito fight?Comment

Are we on the same page at all ?
Listen to Josh Clottey's list of absurd excuses.....
1.) " I don't know how to explain..... "
2.) " I really don't understand what happened to me in that fight..... "
3.) " I just think it was one of those things..... "
4.) " I don't know what happened..... "
5.) " I knew I could hurt him when I threw my power shots..... "
6.) " I didn't feel like his punches really hurt me..... "
7.) " I felt OK after..... "
8.) " there are so many reasons the fight happened the way it did..... "
Former welterweight champion Joshua Clottey had disappeared from the media spotlight after losing a lopsided decision to Manny Pacquiao on March 13th in the inaugural boxing match at the new Cowboys stadium in Dallas, Texas. BoxingScene.com spoke to Joshua Clottey about what went wrong in that fight and also spoke to Ghanan on his planned ring return and more in this exclusive interview.
Manny was pizza-faced, Clottey was unmarked, and Clottey gave a silly list of excuses for completely ignoring the only two boxing instincts that he possesses.
It is pretty obvious what happened if you know Clottey's history leading up to that fight, think about who promotes him, understand why he even landed that fight, and realise what was at stake..... the de-railing of the Manny-train and a potential $50mil payday with Mayweather.
Also, watching Clottey in round 6 (I think it was?) when he had Manny on the ropes after out-punching him, and then suddenly stopped punching, backed up to the centre of the ring, Pac came forward, Clottey gloved up, and away Pac went, "****, ****, **** ".....
I have only ever seen that happen in the gym.Last edited by LeadUppercut; 07-16-2011, 11:39 PM.Comment

Beautiful straight right hand, took a dive? I didn't think so. Believe what you want, but Marquez has always had/has KO power.
But damn Rafa looked old out there in the ring; facial appearance and ring rust. Wow I can't believe the younger of the two Marquez brothers looks so much older.Comment

does anyone have footage or link to a replay of this? supposedly tv azteca was suppose to show this but they didn't for some reason. i really want to see how bad this KO was from jmm. also, what the hell does weighing in at 138 like how he did for this and getting a ko in the 1st round prepare him for anything for pacquiao? i'm sure he's gonna try to weigh in around 142 (like mayweather/marquez) since it's suppose to be a WW fight. he should've came in at 140 on the dot to see how it is, this ended up doing him no good.
not fixed but clottey and margs knew they weren't gonna win regardless so they didn't really fight to earn the W. i forgot when, but someone made a thread a while ago and shared a link of a clottey interview after the manny fight, and he said in that interview, he knew that night that he wasn't suppose to or going to win (forgot which one he said exactly) but it did surprise me a bit. idk, it is what it is, i'm sure pac would've stopped clottey if he tried to fight. margs are the other hand, was just disappointing, he did not fight manny like he fought cotto.Comment

Sorry, but I have never rated Margarito, he was never an elite fighter.
* his style was tailor-made for Pac
* he was badly faded
* his best wins were almost certainly fixed
* he has showed no ko power at all since the Mosley fight
There was no need, and the fight did not appear su****ious.....
* Margarito did not ignore every boxing instinct that he possesses
* Margarito did not glove up for most of their fight
* Margarito did not give a laundry list of silly excuses
* Margarito did not let Pac off the ropes at any stage of their fightComment
