Contender star Alfonso Gomez (23-4-2, 12KOs) is not worried about a posisble hostile crowd when he faces undefeated Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on September 17 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. For weeks, Canelo's team has been pushing very hard to secure Gomez as the opponent for the scheduled date in September. The fight is done, according to Gomez, but not yet confirmed by Canelo's team. A source from Alvarez's promoter, Golden Boy, said the fight is "pretty much done."

I couldn't disagree more. Gomez is a solid fighter who has been in the ring with Miguel Cotto and knocked out Arturo Gatti and Jose Luis Castillo (yes, i know they were both past it).

Compared to Ryan Rhodes and Matthew Hatton, Gomez is very deserving.
