    another report:

    CASTILLO FAILS TO MAKE WEIGHT
Jose Luis Castillo failed to make weight for tomorrow's rematch against Diego Corrales, first weighing in at 137 pounds, two pounds over the lightweight limit of 135. Castillo went into the sauna to try to sweat off the extra pounds, but came back 50 minutes later weighing even more, at 138 1/2. During this second weigh-in, a member of Castillo's camp was caught lifting up the platform of the scale (thus making Castillo's weight appear lighter) by NSAC Executive Director Marc Ratner. Castillo's final attempt also clocked in at 138 1/2, and the much-anticipated bout will now turn from a lightweight title bout into a 12 round non-title special attraction. - reporting by Kevin Iole

To make matters worse, they tried to cheat off of it

Is that picture of him with the Gatorade after he failed to make weight the last time or before that? He sure as hell shouldn't have been drinking any fluids. I assume he'll be moving up to 140 regardless of tomorrow night's outcome.

              big update:

Corrales' promoter Gary Shaw and Castillo's promoter Bob Arum have tentatively agreed to allow the fight to go ahead at a catch weight 147 lbs and the Castillo camp has agreed to be fined $75,000 per pound for every pound he is over 147. There is a major snag, however. Arum wants the weigh-in at 3PM, Shaw insists having it at 5PM. Arum finally exploded and stated rather colorfully that if the weigh-in is not at 3PM then the fight is off. Castillo's manager Fernando Beltran said that Castillo is embarrased about the incident on the scale and wants to apologize to everyone. Beltran added that he will not jeopardize his fighter's health and the fight will not go on if the 3PM weigh-in is not agreed to. Negotiations are continuing...

what? WTF? they're bsing when they're threatening that the fight won't go on. Now its going to be a catch weight of 147? Castillo would be better off just taking the $120 k fine. $75 k per pound? He's dumb if he agrees to that. Dumb anyhow, but yeah.

Damn it, someone get Casamayor on the phone!
