Yes eaner, HBO put Bhop-Dawson on PPV cuz they had no cash in their budget.

Good that this idiot is gone, hopefully HBO bans Al-Haymon from blackmailing them.

They probably spent more than 50% of their yearly budget just on Devon Alexander,Andre Berto, Timothy Bradley and Paul Williams paying them 1m+ every fight fighting against bums and promising them even more money, what a joke.

For 1m you can put on a great card with alot of great guys that will be in a war.

Besides Alexander/Berto/Bradley have like 1000 fans, I dont see how they are making any money paying these dude millions when they have 0 fans.

I wonder what kind of dirt Al-Haymon was blackmailing HBO with?

      Why... because they ALWAYS vote ******** even if only a hopeless fool were the candidate. this is a deeply engrained LOYALTY relic of the early days of ***ish immigration when they received Social aid mostly from ********ic Organisations.{although much of the funding was supplied by charitable ********** sponsors}

When it's business, they can understand each other better than others might, and can cut out a lot of posturing and messing around and get to the nub of the deal. And they make sure it's a good deal all round, both for themselves, the Sponsors and, particularly the fighters, to whom they have deep commitments. That's why Arum is the recognised best promoter for his fighters.

TIBBAR- Thank you very much for your kind words. My post seems to have touched the sensibilities of several posters who were kind enough to let me know.

Yet, just yesterday I got 2 posts, one a PM and the other to this site that were so obscene and crude, that I didn't even understand most of them, and don't even know why. They made me feel I needed to carry a gun.

On another point, re Arum, I feel that there was a lot more to Oscar's sudden retreat to an institution than mere "substance abuse". I think it was the pressure of the Manny P. legal case which he had realised could cost him anything up to $100 mill in unspecified damages if he lost, and on top of that, he'd just lost-again- over Donaire. A bad omen. Knowing that Arum and Manny P were basically decent guys, it gave him the legit opportunity to approach them with an apology. Oscar recovered very quickly I think. All the best.

        Just my opinion.

I'm glad that there are posters who like to talk just boxing and related matters.

They were a beautiful pair calling themselves, **** A GONG and Tha Executioner

The award for biggest moron of NSB goes to, yep you guessed it, our "special" comrade edgarg. Not only are you a disgusting ***ish Supremacist racist ****, you are a thick headed buffoon and a deceitful liar who deserves to be castrated.

***** antagonistic to Israel? Did you not just recently see ***** retract on his original comments when ********* slapped him in the face in his own government? Did you not see both **********s and ********s alike, unite with undying fervour, giving him more than 40 standing ovations at his joint session speech? No American government has ever been antagonistic to Israel, never, none, not happening and never likely will, so stop playing that card you manipulative ****.

BTW, Rahm "Israel" Emanuel, *****'s former Chief of Staff, served in the IDF and not to mention his dad was a ********* who slaughtered innocent men, women and children for the Irgun. So much for being "antagonistic" towards Israel, nothing could be farther from the truth. Have a good day, schmuck.

          You ****** moron.

here from Hauser in 2008 where he admits to an output deal for GBP

            http://www.secondsout.com/columns/th...auser/hbo-2008

it states both Haymon and GBP are benefitting from favorable eyes at HBO

um they may not care but it does influence what is shown on HBO

say HBO's budget stands at $X amount for the rest of the year and they still have _____'s next fight. _____has a set amount he is promised by his promoter, his minimum if you will, and said promoter has to go to HBO and try to get enough of a license fee to cover that. Knowing this HBO has to cover that and have enough to pay the opponent etc etc. a budget if you will. Reading Hauser's article it costs about 400k to run an HBO WCB or PPV so knowing this if they cannot cover this then they do what?

well of recent vintage they move it to PPV. why? because a fighters minimums push it to that avenue of solution which is why I say major PPV has become a crutch for all involved.

here is a question for you. what do you think causes HBO's budget to disappear? the biggest money sucker in an HBO caliber fight is the fighter itself. If that is indeed the case then couldn't we deduce that while HBO may not care what a fighter's minimums are, it does affect what's being shown on their airwaves, especially later in the year

so in essence you answered your own question with your own answer

it had to move to PPV because

it didn't have enough money to support it. why? because of what a fighter simply makes

now I was going to come on here and go at you the way you did me but I will keep it respectful even though you haven't

Even if he is, I think his point was that Bute alone has more drawing power than Williams, Alexander, and Bradley combined. And in the grand scheme of things that's what ultimately puts people on the seats.

                  no

remember this is the sports programming job of HBO not the boxing job

Rafael is not experienced in that

as a matter of fact he has no match making experience at all. My guess is he has no marketing experience or any TV programming experience either and while it may be a guess unless he minor'd in Business he may not know how to budget either.

all he knows is boxing and even in that capacity a lot of what he knows is regurgitation from other more credible guys

And that's a good thing. The less we see of Al Haymon and his buck toothed twins the better. This is the classic example of overpaying for low quality products. Million dollar paydays to guys like Berto (for fighting cans mind you) and Alexander will not only deplete their resources but is utterly ridiculous at the same time.
