If HBO opened up their books for this year vs previous years its obvious someone was getting fired.

HBO let go of the top 2 out of 3 draws in boxing (Pacquiao and Cotto) earlier this year and for what? Less than 50k ppvs combined total for this year and its already almost August. HBO is so broke there gonna put BHop vs Dawson on PPV.

If it wasn't for Top Rank HBO Boxing would be bankrupt.

Hopkins vs. Dawson going to PPV has absolutely NOTHING to do with their minimum purses. It's going to PPV because HBO doesn't have money left to pay a license fee. When a fight is on PPV, it essentially pays for itself through the PPV revenues and distribution fees.

remember Greenburg held the position of sports period not just boxing so the risk that another guy disinterested in boxing could happen again

had Davis been let go then I could see it

Yeah! Because Greenburg plays favors with Haymon & GBP when Top Rank has the "Trump Card" in Pacquiao.

It's good to have a business colleague to help you but sometimes helping them out can cost you.

Well fact is that the status quo at HBO Sports isn't at the level that it used to be. It goes beyond Boxing. They lost the longest sport series in the Inside the NFL to Showtime. The fact that Greenburg assumed that he can get the biggest fights and still be buddy buddy with certain promoters proves that he wasn't fit for the job that he was entrusted in.

I don't like that Ross is being fired in that 24/7, the Lombardi, Magic/Bird, and Borg/McEnroe documentaries as well as Real Sports have been excellent as always the past year.

However, it is Ross' job to make sure the Boxing program stays the best in the business, and if that meant firing Kerry Davis then i'm sure that's what was expected.

I do feel that HBO will take a hit in some aspects, but HBO's Boxing program has been run into the ****ing ground the past five-six years and it's made it difficult for me to enjoy being a Boxing fan the past couple years.

I just want some ****ing changes at HBO, and if firing Ross is what it's going to take, then I have to welcome HBO firing him.

HBO doesn't give a f*** what the boxers' minimums are. When HBO forces something to PPV, it's because of HBO's budget, not the boxer's financial demands.
