    Julio Cesar Chavez

The Great Julio Cesar Chavez was great at brawling but when faced with movement and a higher boxing IQ he looked like an averge fighter.

excellent, 3 past prime fights, especially the DLH one.

Chavez was one of the greatest ever at infighting and cutting off the ring. and other than his chin, he didnt have many physical advantages. That was almost all skill.

incidently, Randall did not 'use the ring', he won the fight by constantly taking the fight to Chavez with lots of punches. volume punchers who could flurry on the inside were what Chavez stylisticlaly was bad against since he could be outhustled, but not outfought. The opponents that specifically tried to run away got their ass kicked against Chavez, Whitaker won by fighting excellently on the inside himself

I don't really know where to start ..LOL

        JCC wasn't a brawler he was a boxer/ puncher

He lost the Frankie Randall fight due to the point deductions

which means he outboxed him or at least would've won a decision

Whitaker clearly outboxed JCC... not really debatable hes an ATG and one of the most skilled boxers ever ... no shame in losing to him

Oscar was in his 20s and prime while Chavez was in his 30s and clearly over the hill with over 90 fights

        those aren't fair comparisons

        with the exception of Randall

you put that Whitaker and Oscar vs Pacquiao and they both beat him

and they MIGHT even beat Floyd too aswell as almost every other current boxer in those divisions

Let's be frank here, you don't have a damn clue about Julio Cesar Chavez's style or his career. If you did,you wouldn't be describing him as a "brawler".Somebody as refined and technically sound as Chavez could not, under any circumstances,be considered a brawler. He was the absolute definition of a technician, and undoubtedly one of the finest the sport has ever seen.

I suggest you go and watch the man at his absolute best before passing judgment on him as a fighter.

we aren't debating who deserved to win but how JCC had trouble with certain types of fighters. I said he would've won if he didn't get the deductions ..

which indicated he didn't get outboxed. Did he deserve the deductions? Perhaps , but it's irrelevant to the discussion .

JCC had better skills, defense, and boxing IQ than Oscar. He was just done at the elite level by the time he fought Oscar. But, even in the rematch he gave Oscar a tougher than expected fight.

Everybody on here is right bro...You haven't seen enough of JCC to really talk about him.

was this supposed to be a comparison to a current fighter? I can't tell

I've seen every televised fight of JCC. I have also seen him in training camp sparring against Billy Bradley when I was about 11. So you see I do know what I'm talking about. He was a brawler puncher. What seperated him from a wild brawler was he did place his punches, and he did counter punch a little. Mostly he brawled. The only time he tried to box was when his opponant boxed him. No fighter in history coming from Mexico fighting there first 40 fights in Mexico, fighting nothing but Mexicans will ever be considered a boxer. Its not there style, its not there culture. Mexico breeds brawlers, its just in there blood. Boxing is about hitting and not getting hit, pure and simple. If your getting hit with most of the punches being thrown at you, then you are not boxing my friends you are brawling. Please no the diffiernce.
