I believe in the view of No Contest. Overturning the decision would be likened to a Broken Window Fallacy.

Good boxing needs to clean itself up.

suspension and additional training...at least something was done.

I had it 8 rounds for Lara 4 for Williams.

they should change the result as well. To at least a NC.

I think in rare occasions like this, when practically everyone agrees who the winner is, overturning a decision is perfectly fine by me.

I would absolutely love if boxing had some type of commission that could oversee all bouts and in the event of a controversial decision, the panel could review the fight and vote if there is enough evidence to overturn the decision or not.
The problem is that many more people just aren't chiming in on this issue that believe that the fight was a lot closer then the masses think. Compubox had a difference of 24 punches landed over 12 rounds. Williams landed more punches in 4 rounds and they tied in two rounds. He landed more power shots in 4 rounds and they tied in one round. There are so many worse decisions just this year then this fight. Did any of you watch the fight more then once? Try it on mute. You may see a different fight. Imagine what it looks like ring side, when Williams throws 500 more punches and is the aggressor in the fight. I'm not going to argue that the fight could have gone for Lara, I just cannot understand all the hubbub.

I think that the commission is doing a disservice to these judges and to the sport and that their decision was a knee jerk reaction.

People act like this was the worst decision they have ever seen. Did they start watching boxing last week? Maybe they just don't remember the last bad decision, wasn't it just last week?

I'm actually amazed and impressed that something is being done so soon! Bravo!

The commission must've been inundated with complaints, some of which came from members right here on Boxingscene. It also helped that boxing journalists like Dan Rafael delivered blistering attacks on the "decision." This was the kind of event that's tough to talk your way out of. The course of action taken might not be the best we can hope for, but it's a positive step in the right direction. I hope this is just the beginning....

if there's a footnote in the books that the judges of the fight were subsequently suspended i've got to say im impressed

you cant just flip the decision in my eyes
that's not fair and respectful of the process

fights are score round by round by judges at ringside and the rounds are scored at the very end of the round with no opportunity to reflect

they should also take a hard look at goosen tutor

I've said this before in other threads: "Compubox" is only a tool; it can be very misleading. As far as judging an actual fight goes, "Compubox" is virtually useless. Rounds are judged individually, based on set criteria. Then they're tallied at the end of the fight. If you stick to the judging criteria in boxing, it's entirely possible to land less punches and legitimately win a fight. Lara won most of the rounds, whether he landed more punches during the fight (which he did) or not. End of story.
