I have been for this change for the longest time. IMO that is a form of cheating. I am not trying to hear all that health risk bull****. If a fighter should be truly be at said weight they should not be completely dehydrated and will be just fine with a short hydration period. No reason for fighters to weigh in at 140 and come in the ring weighing 155+lbs. That **** is just crazy.

I think one can make a pretty compelling argument that the networks not safety was the motor behind the change from 15 to 12 rounds.

YES , i am in favor of it. The history alone is reason enough to support it.

12 rounds definitely favors floyd. I think he has the better ring generalship.

it would make the fight bigger (if that's even possible) both in the boxing world and in terms of casual fan viewership

15 rounds, as you said, iceman, is a totally different animal.

if both parties agree i say why not?

i don't want it to become some means of gaining leverage in fights (either its 15 rounds or i walk, says manny pacquiao, etc.)

and if somebody gets seriously hurt i'm going to feel awful about it

but i think lots of serious boxing fans would welcome the idea of having certain legitimate world championship fights being scheduled for 15 rounds.

i know you went 12 many times as a pro,
did you ever go 15 in the gym, Iceman?

Ive done 12 rounds DOZENS AND DOZENS of times in the gym, did 15 a few times...once did 22 rounds with two guys (Derrick and Darrin Whitley) who were alternating one round each (it was kind of a verbal challenge I took them up on)...the most I ever did in one session was 27 rounds....

I don't doubt that at all. In fact, now that you point it out, I'm inclined to agree with your comment. Even greater reason why the change from fifteen to twelve will probably never happen. Money virtually always outweighs safety.

they implemented the change because they realized there were so many late round KO's where guys were getting really worn down before being blasted out...Arguello-Pryor was one and then the Mancini-Deuk Koo Kim fight sealed it...

Also Holmes-Cooney, Arguello-Mancini, etc...a lot of late round KO's back in that time period leading up to the change...

36 minutes of battering is not enough for a fighter to take? John, you know what those extra 9 minutes can do to a fighter. I'm surprised that you would even bring up 15 round fights again.

It sounds like a great idea until there is another death and another black eye for boxing.

From a fans point of view it sounds great.

To the fighters that have to endure the extra rounds while excepting more punishment to their minds and souls it is not needed......Rockin'
