Lennox Lewis: One of the Greatest Heavyweights?

Just to add my two cents...
I've never really liked LEWIS.
He seemed a bit phoney in his outlook. Sure, he was/is a good fighter, but i (personally) put a lot of his success down to luck. He fought a past it TYSON (who we all know, in his prime, would still be serving manslaughter for lewis today, had they met 89-90) and didn't impress me too much against HOLYFIELD, either.
As tough as LEWIS is, i always felt he held fighters off, with his huge reach, and then just battered them (i can see all the LEWIS fans, getting irrate at this point) and he was a boring fighter to watch (minus a few KO's) as he would often hold opponents off, for rounds on end (McCALL and RAHMEN were proof of what could happen, when he didn't use his reach) and this unexciting (often lethargic) performance, would be credited as some kind of 'tactic'
His identity was also a mystery to me as well, he couldn't quite make his mind up of his nationality (anyone remember his cringe-inducing badly-timed 'ALI-style' raps, at press conferences?)
All in all, i don't hate him, but i fear he had a lot of success due to the politics of boxing (none of it, his fault) but i don't think he's ever fought anyone in their prime, and if he did, then not convincingly so. I certainly wouldn't put him in MY top ten, that's for sure.
Start the name-calling......now.......

Lewis was very good.
But il always reserve the 'great' tag on him, because he was KO'd twice, with one punch.
He beat an over the hill Holyfield, and a total crap Tyson. He also showed waaaay too much respect or hesitation with McCall in the rematch and with Holyfield.
At his best he was very good, but overall, he was never great.

Truth is the guy was born in England, learned how to fight through Canada, and then moved back to the country of his birth before making his way up to being (a very rare) Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World, he did have obvious "Hollywood" asperations which could explain (but is no excuse for) some of his poor discipline in training for particular fights, including the fights he lost before he avenged all of his loses, and the TKO victory over Klitschko.
He is not the best of "all-time", but he did set the bar very high for "Tall" or "Big" Heavyweights and was definitely a great boxer...
