In a fantasy world where Calzaghe was able to get that low, he'd destroy him. Martinez is heavily overrated. Joe is one of the best at adapting to his opponents. Martinez lost a close decision to a sloppy, exposed southpaw and was beat by sheer work-rate. Calzaghe is a freakin' workhorse who is very fast and punches in combination. And lets not forget that Calzaghe won't exactly be standing in front of him like Martinez's last opponents (which allowed him to look more spectacular than he probably is). Calzaghe is not Pavlik, Williams, or Dzinziruk. Don't forget, Calzaghe also has a great chin, so I don't see Sergio knocking him out.

I'm not saying Martinez doesn't have power but, he stops at JMW and a guy with no defense and suddenly he's able to stop a guy with a very reliable chin that's also much bigger than him? Martinez is really a natural JMW, he tends to come into camp heavy nowadays. Have you guys even seen calzaghe fight? The guy has amazing handspeed, decent pop, endless stamina, a very good chin, and a very smart fighter. He may get knocked down sometime during the first 3 rounds but trust me, he would adjust and adapt and dominate him afterwards. No way Serg can endure his pace.

The ref is like what the hell just hit me a fly?[/QUOTE]

the ref spent 6 weeks in the infirmary with a collapsed lung and internal bleeding. manfredo is so lucky calzaghe couldn't hit him.

not sure about 164 for either guy, but it'd be a tough fight. i think if martinez doesn't stop him, the decision goes to calzaghe.

Don't forget, he's also the man who beat current lineal light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins so badly that Soapy was forced to fake injuries to avoid being knocked out and won a clear decision over him.

They both didn't really land anything significant in the fight except hopkins knocking Calzaghe down in the first. I don't know, that fight was weak sauce. It was the first fight I've actually seen where both men had a hard time landing anything.

I don't think its enough to give Hopkins the fight just because he won the first round but neither really did anything after that. You can find pictures online of both Hopkins and Calzaghe landing punches in that fight but there's not alot of photos to back up either claiming the victory in that fight.

I think I found like 5 photos of each of them landing like 5 clean shots in that fight. It was just an awful boring fight where nothing happened.

why would you need to find photos? just look at the video. calzaghe landed virtually nothing while hopkins landed all the clean punches. hopkins outlanded him by a wide margin in at least 7 rounds but hopkins got tired towards the end so he auto loses. if you get tired all the rounds you dominated earlier retroactively go to calzaghe. weird system but hey it works. oh yeah bika beat calzaghe btw becaus calzaghe got tired and held all fight. he even faked low blows at the end to buy time. proof bika won. fair but firm system.
