Cheers. What makes me laugh is there is always some Polyanna on here (or any other boxing forum) to say that such and such result "wasn't really a robbery" because of this detail or that detail.
Bull****.
Fans know a robbery when they see one. You feel like you've been punched in the gut, you feel nauseated, when these robberies occur. It is a terrible thing to do to a fighter and that's why it is such a major turnoff.Comment

Does anybody else think showing those robberies on HBO hurts the ratings and the long-run popularity of boxing?Comment

Lara was clearly robbed: Dan Goossen clearly paid off judges. This was an extremely one sided fight. This is the real definition of robbery.Cuban Erislandy Lara
Argentian Lucas Matthysse (twice!)
Ukrainian Andreas Kotelnik
Argentinan Sergio Martinez
Mexican Daniel Ponce De Leon
German Sebastian Zbik
Anybody else see a pattern here? Have you ever seen an American boxer robbed on HBO?
Those poor guys needed a KO to win.
Matthysse controlled the fight and landed the better shots in my opinion. Again I think crowd noises affected how the judges score it.
Kotelnik probably should have got the nod, but I could see how the crowd influenced the judges a bit.
Martinez was only robbed against Cintron, Martinez first fight against Williams was close.
I thought Daniel Ponce De Leon did enough to beat Broner, I also don't think HBO really cared because they wanted a rising young star so they probably were happy Ponce De Leon got cheated.Comment

First of all, not all of those fights were necessarily out-right robberies. Still, it happens in all countries. The problem is that some countries do it more often than others.
Germany, as an example. But, still, it happens. Regardless, HBO has had a few fights that have had questionable outcomes. Still.... Trinidad-De La Hoya. Chavez-Whitaker. Big, American robberies in America.
Just happens.Comment

Matthysse only got robbed once, and when did Martinez get robbed?Cuban Erislandy Lara

Martinez was robbed against Cintron. Clearly a win for Martinez, it should have never been considered a draw. Martinez beat Cintron twice. Martinez KO'd Cintron, and Martinez won a points decision over him.Comment

Martinez was robbed of a KO against Cintron and then of a decision win on the cards. His first fight with Williams was close - I thought he did enough to win it, but it wasn't a robbery.
Matthysse CLEARLY won against both Judah and Alexander. Both those results were robberies.Last edited by The Hammer; 07-11-2011, 07:18 PM.Comment

Mr. I Train Fighters is a fuckin' clown. Just sits on the forum sniffing his own farts and believing his own crap about how great he is and how much he knows, he'd suck his own schmekel if he could.
Back in reality, the schmuck's self-vaunted "knowledge" has been exposed so many times here it's not funny.Comment
