HBO's 'in fight' interview of Williams' trainer

This is nothing actually. Isn't there a major title that when you're fighting for that title, the judges official scorecards are said through the loud speakers in every round or something? I know there's a sanctioning body who does this, I just forgot which one.Didn't see it as an issue but with you bringing it up makes me think about it...
The scorecard thing is a bit iffy...idk if I'd want them to tell the corner how they have it...
But anyone with 2 eyes saw Paul getting hit over and over again...Peterson didn't need Kellerman to tell him...
Williams and crew's strategy is just idiotic...there obviously delusional if they think Martinez landed a lucky shot...when he landed the same shot right before that brutal KO...Comment

Yes. The WBC picks when it feels like utilizing their awful open scoring system.Comment

Think its the wbc kev... Not 100% sure.
I was much more apalled by george peterson's answer than th question. Dude makes jack loew seem like ray arcel.
The quite of the night was when the asked how paul could better prepare for tge shot that sergio blew him up with and they said, "he didnt see it, how can we prepare for it?".
Wtf? If jack loew is a hack, peterson is a wannabe hack.Comment

not only was that inappropriate but ***german i mean kellerman told his corner that "we have lara way ahead on the scorecards". that's outright cheatingI took exception to Kellerman's in fight interview of Williams' trainer. I think it was the 8th or 9th round and, I'm paraphrasing, but Kellerman said something to the effect of "what are you telling Paul to do, to avoid the overhand left of Lara, it's been landing frequently."
Maybe I'm making more out of it than it is, but to me, this observation by Kellerman was informing Williams corner of something they may have not been paying close attention to. In other words, HBO is indirectly giving 'hints' to a boxer's cornerman during a fight. I thought it was unfair to Lara that HBO do this...
Anyone else think this is inappropriate or unfair? Or am I just being neurotic?Comment

Bottom line, HBO or any other broadcast team shouldn't give their opinion or analysis to a boxer's corner during the fight. It's just unfair and may indirectly influences, or has the appearance of influencing, the outcome of a contest.
Besides, does an in-fight interview really enhance the broadcast? I think listening in on the corner via camera is insightful enough...
Does the WBC still do the open scoring? I remember seeing a couple fights a few years back (Maskaev-Peter) where they open scoring system was used but I thought they had abandoned the idea after poor reception for it..Last edited by BostonGuy; 07-10-2011, 10:14 PM.Comment

Not really at all imo. It wasnt like he broke some ground breaking news. Everyone in the audience clearly saw that.Comment

as far as the getting hit by the left. idt that PWill's team was worried about training to not get get hit with the left b/c they viewed it as a lucky punch. now they see it is a problemComment

I agree 100% with this. I was going to raise the issue after the fight, but then the robbery of the century happened, and I kinda forgot.I took exception to Kellerman's in fight interview of Williams' trainer.
