Bute-Mendy
why is it everytime i see Mendy, he's always layed out all funny? first it was that nasty DQ win over Bika where he got hit on while down and then yesterday, Lucian Bute pretty much put on an exhibition and then finally sending Mendy face first into a loss
i'm hearing Pavlik-Bute is next...i'll be rooting for the Ghost but i think Bute is too much for him at this point..it would be nice to see a Bute fight outside of Canada
Ramos-Shimoda
my first thought was, 'really HBO? you couldn't have come up with a better undercard bout than this?'
this was an ESPN Friday Night Fight bout IMO but whatever...that was just sad to watch...we had Shimoda who's like the Timmy Bradley of Japan lunging wildly like an amateur and leading with his head...with his 2001 Manny Pacquiao hairstyle....and there was Rico Ramos just standing there for the most part, eating headbutts, low blows and the occasional combos
it was one of those fights, for me, where around the 4th or 5th round, you look at the clock and think '****in A this is set for 12 rounds' and do a facepalm
thank you Rico Ramos for throwing that nasty hook...thank you Shimoda for having a glass chin...i'm glad to have been spared 5 more rounds of that
Williams-Lara
ok, i have a confession to make; i TRIED to be a Paul Williams fan last night...really, i wanted the guy to bounce back after that brutal loss...i wanted him to look like a million bucks, beat the crap out of Lara and be back in the mix
this was even before they did that little segment where Max Kellerman's lispy ass went to his gym and talked to him...i was already tryin to be a fan
then the fight started and i dont know if Paul Williams was a shell of himself or if i underestimated Lara but this wanna be Williams fan found very little to cheer for
Lara SCHOOLED Williams...he moved away from exchanges but landed his overhand left at will...Williams followed around and kept eating bombs as he tried to exchange...had Lara had a tad more power, that fight wouldn't have lasted 5 rounds
so that went on for 12 punishing rounds...the one time i tried to be a Williams fan and he gets his ass thoroughly kicked
what happened next made me sick to my stomach for a good minute
when i heard 114-114, the words 'WHAT THE ****' just blurted out of my mouth
then i heard 115-114, 116-114 and i thought 'damn, they almost robbed Lara...at least he got a close decision win'
i was afraid that they would make it a draw and rob the Cuban
then i heard 'From Aiken, South Carolina' and i became a Paul Williams hater again...**** that guy...**** these gift decisions
he thinks he won, he thinks he deserves another shot at Sergio...give it to him...he needs to be put back to sleep then retire...**** Paul Williams
Cintron-Molina
our fight party decided to start grilling and we didn't watch this one...we came back and it was around the 8th round and we just fast forwarded it to the end to get the decision results...
since Williams probably wont rematch Lara, i'd like to see Lara-Molina 2
Rios-Antillon
as ashamed as i was for being a boxing fan after that Williams bull****, this one restored my faith and reminded me why this sport rocks
WOW, what a war...i remember talking to IronDanHamza about this fight and i said it might be JLC-Chico-esque with the inside fighting and boy, was it ever!
that kind of action is gold to me...it only lasted 3 rounds but if that was a $65 ppv, i would have NO regrets
the action was furious, the crowd was electric...bombs after bombs..beautiful display of hooks and uppercuts...that's what happens when you get to badass mexicans in there...under a hot cali outdoor night, we were treated to a war
i have no problem with the stoppage...Antillon was wobbled...Rios, at 135, is the real deal...If JMM is still breathing after the PAC fight, that's the fight i would love to see
BTW- did you guys notice one of the judges? Earnest Gabion? good ole Eaner09...THANK GOD Rios ended it with a KO...i was gonna start a 'Biased Judge' thread even if he earned a 12 round decision
