look at harold lederman's scorecards. is there a more confused human on planet earth? he will score williams-quintana to williams but lara-williams to lara. he will score calzaghe-hopkins to calzaghe but mayweather-delahoya to mayweather. he will say "Jim he's just outworking the guy" but then in another fight he will say "Jim he's just landing the harder punches"
Try watching it on mute and it's a closer fight than it seemed live. Roy Jones and Max Kellerman started going off on Paul not looking the same and how he should retire by round fucking 1. Every left hand Lara was landed, granted they were a lot, started another discussion among the commentary that Paul is unsafe in the ring blah blah
And as usual Harold Lederman gets into the whole "streaky" scoring where he gives a fighter 1 clear round, then he'll give all close rounds in succession to the same fighter ex Alexander/Kotelnik, Pacquaio/Marquez. There's no way you give Williams only 3 rounds, and it seemed like Lederman was "generous" in giving those rounds too.
There's a lot of factors in play with the telecast that is sure to sway peoples minds. Keep in an open mind to it and don't act like this was Whitaker-Chavez.
You didn't have to have the volume on to see that Williams was missing most of his shots. He only landed 200 out of 1047 total punches in the fight ffs, and you didn't need compubox to show you that. He was active and was definately a warrior with no quit in him, but there's no way in hell he won that fight.
No controversy there in that case. Fighters with equal billing get treated neutrally by the network at times.
I had Hopkins by a point, but wouldn't argue with anyone who thought Wright did enough. Got to love Wink during that time, he was impossible to beat decisively for awhile.
Hard to believe it was Paul Williams that had been the only fighter to really beat him in recent years, and he made it look pretty easy.
And that fight was what? Above 160?
Can't believe this is the same guy struggling with Welters and JMWs now.
harold had lacy winning the calzaghe fight. i went back and watched it and yeah i guess if you have a bias toward accurate fighters you might have calzaghe winning but that would be shameless.
Before I hear anything about the running away comments. I am not one of those people who only love to see hands fly. I enjoy watching technical boxing, hit and not get hit. However, Lara wasn't hitting at all during those moments. It wasn't as if he was like floyd, avoiding contact but landing little pot shots inbetween. Lara literally did nothing but move around and then hug and grapple.
This isn't MMA. I can't score in your favor if your going to miss a punch and then hug and lean into the guy. You have to throw punches, not hard punches all the time but accurate shots at least.
I just couldn't give it to Lara. He just wasn't doing enough.
the reason you made this thread is that you are an attention seeking whore. nothing more
