No. It didn't sell out in three hours! But it did end up selling 16,000 tickets compared to 13,000 tickets for the Mayweather/Mosley fight. However, before you start to gloat, think about this: those 16,000 tickets that Pac sold generated a live gate of $8.5 million compared to a live gate of $13 million for the 13,000 tickets sold for Mayweather/Mosley. What that means is that half the tickets sold to the Pac/Mosley fight cost about the same amount of money that I would pay to see a minor league baseball game in Nashville, TN.

Here are some numbers that has a direct correlation to PPV numbers:
African/American - 39 million Filipinos (in the U.S.) - 3.5 million
Floyd/Shane (both African/Americans) PPV - 1.4 million
Pac/Shane PPV - 1.3 million
Based on population ratios, the Floyd/Shane fight should have done at least ten times more than Pac/Shane, or 13 million PPVs. The conclusion, the Pac/Shane fight actually did very well considering the small number of Filipinos in the U.S..

IMHO using a statistical algorithm to assess who will support a fighter based on race is as useless as using one to determine who will like watermelons. While many Filipinos may love Pacquiao not all of them can or will order a fight, the same goes with Mayweather as it pertains to blacks. The mystery behind the PPV numbers rests not with Filipinos or blacks but with Bob Arum and the fact that he keeps making fights with Pacquiao that are unattractive to fight fans. Yes, fans want to see Pacquiao fight, he's exciting but there is a limit to what they will accept as a legitimate fight and the PPV numbers reflect that, nothing more.

The brokers(scalpers) bought a lot more tickets then they normally do. that's why its close to a sell out already. There has to be a way to get people together and fight this bullsh@t. Ticketmaster says it does not support ticket scalping, but then sells a lot of the tickets to brokers who in turn sell them for a increased price.
