Hell no Hatton is what he is a solid fighter,if anything he is underrated imo..He was very limited but look how far he got,that does not happen to overrated fighters...

Overrating would've been the British public picking him to beat Floyd & Pac, his two losses... but since that didn't happen he was judged on his achievements and his large following was just due to his entertaining style and personality.

I hate to say it but Ricky Hatton is so grossly overhyped its sickening and tiring hearing the same mantra "there is only one Ricky Hatton". Ricky Hatton is famous for his two losses, Mayweather totally outclassed him and stopped him, Mayweathers first stoppage in years. Pacquaio totally demolished Hatton with a single punch.

Hatton spent most of his career fighting and defending a WBU title, Which is not a world title worth its salt given they have no mandatory challengers whatsoever. Hatton milked the WBU gravy train in a packed out MEN arena in Manchester infront of underpriveleged and under-education white working class english people. His biggest wins were against Malignaggi, Collazo and Urango. He was a good 140lber a weak 147lber. Tszyu was shot to bits dont even mention that, Also Hatton threw every foul in the book, low blows, rabbit punches, elbows etc.

I know its a national past-time in the UK to build and hype fighters only to watch them get massacred like Kevin Mitchell. Now I know someone is going to start talking about Khan, But this thread is about Hatton, Hattons fans are very different from Khan fans, Hatton fans tend to be poor unemployed/working class, beering drinking, football fans with low educational achievement, high birth and crime rates. Khan fans are more classty and financially more successful and even the white people that support him are your urban socialites ie the type that wear suits to work not uniforms with name badge like Hatton fans.

Yet some people are talking about Hatton getting into the IBHOF, I know the bar for the IBHOF is very low. But letting Hatton into the IBHOF would be a travesty.

check the p4p list and you will find tszyu was number 3 at the time. and if hattons fans are poor unemployed etc etc, how the fcuk did they afford to go to las vegas?!

Khan fans constantly sizing Amir up to Ricky and running Ricky down. Most Brits can see what is happening here.

Ricky may not be the greatest, but he was damn good and not over rated, if anything most folks on here have only seen his last few fights so have missed 85% of his career, so who are they to even comment about him being over rated when they have seen a small window of entire career.

He achieved far more then Khan, Haye, Froch etc put together have done for promoting UK boxing so far in my opinion and with the export of fans he took to the USA and the atmosphere he created, it's going to be a hard pair of shoes to fill even if he wasnt the best boxer we have produced in the UK.

The guy deserves credit for many things, but unless you have seen a large part of his career you just won't get it.

Hatton was only considered garbage after Pac beat him. That is a way to moderate how much praise Pac gets.

The U.S. media destroyed Hatton's career twice beginning with Duckweather and ending with Pacquiao. Seriously, every U.S. boxing journalists called for Hatton to retire at the age of 29 after being defeated by the P4P #1 Champion. WTF!

And he once again asked to retire after being defeated by Pacquiao who was the Number 2 P4P (or #1 P4P?) fighter in the world. Really, the U.S. media destroyed him and the British media went with it.

Hatton if he was active after 2009 to the present he would beat Devon Alexander and Timothy Bradley in a span of 6 months. He could still be a champion today if the media didn't destroy him mentally.

When Pacquiao and Duckweather beat a boxer the media, the fans, and the world **** on the loser. I mean how is Miguel Cotto needs to be labeled a broken goods its been 3 and 2 years already from 2008 and 2009.

Victor Ortiz if he losses to Duckweather his career will be in the back for so many years just like Zab Judah. He will become a gatekeeper attraction.

imho some underate him, some overrate hatton but Hatton did achieve something during his career and I think he may not be a first ballot entry, but history dictates he will be voted in HOF...
