The resons i think holyfield beat tyson is because tyson didnt move his head jab his way , throw combinations , throw body shots and allowed holyfield to push him back . The tyson of the eighties who jabbed his way in, moved his head, threw combinatons and was a body punching artist destroys any version of holyfield , it would be a mismatch .

Because Mike wasn't the same Mike in 1996 that he was in 1987. The Mike Tyson of 86-88 would have beaten the 1996 Holyfield. Mike was the ultimate fighter at his best, he really did have it all at one point.

Tyson was never perfect. He never had an A game on the inside, and could never work out of a clinch. He only knew how to hold on and wait for the referee to break it up when things got that close. On his very best night, a "headstrong" Holyfield, with his inside skills and iron jaw, would have had a great chance of beating Tyson at any point.

I agree with that assesment. People always say that Holyfield had Tyson's number but Tyson was clearly a different fighter in the 90's. The 80's version of him would KO Holyfield.

Because Holyfield has an incredible mental toughness and focus, and is cool under pressure, and Tyson doesn't have any of those things.

Why did Holy beat Tyson? Well, he trained harder and wanted it more. Probably was on steroids too. King thought Holy was washed up and would be an easy fight for Tyson based on past performance. Holy also caught Tyson in his declining phase. Timing is everything in boxing. It's significant that Holy himself has a miserable record after that series which should clue you in on how much Tyson had declined.

holyfield has tyson number . he has all the tools to beat tyson . he is a short heavy , which bothers tyson whos style is fitted for tall HW , can take a punch so it nullifyes tyson punching power , has better overall technique and can use dirty tactics like headbutts to push tyson out of his gameplan .
