We agree. But Marg, IMO, as the WBO champ, was not someone who deserved any title fights during the early part of this decade.

**** the Cotto vs Margarito rematch!! That is a free regular HBO fight nothing more! Neither Cotto or Margarito has been the same since the first fight. Since then they have both taken multiple beatings which took some more off they respective careers than they did when they beat the **** out of each other. The first fight was a classic!!! Now neither fighter has enough gas in the tank to even come close to replicating what they did in the first fight. This fight will be more B-Hop vs Jones Jr II than Marquez vs Manny II.

In respone to your post, juanma damn sure doesn't deserve the gamboa fight right now. I'm actually growing tired of him because when you watch him fight, any decent fighter would take advantge of his poor hand psoitioning and whip his ass. Does he deserve a rematch against Salido, yes.

But just because the whole island of puerto rico loves him doesn't mean he is a great fighter.

So, respectfully, even though you are a huge fan, did he really deserve title fights back then?

Look Marg was a good tough fighter but its hard for me to give him that much cred back when he was WBO champ. At that time the WBO was a fledgling minor organization.
And, ESPN low level PPV event did those numbers...That's not bad considering the circumstance...And, at the end of the day he put up a very good performance.

And, was the longest reigning title holder at the time and arguably the best fighter in the division right now.

                  Jrosale13:

We will agree to diagree about a good performance. The WBO was not a respected or highly recognized sanctioning body at that time. Marg was a fringe champion that benefitted greatly from being a top rank employee.

and arguably the best fighter in the division right now.

I believe this is a typo. He is the best fighter in what division 147?

It's one thing to **** on Marg now.

But, if you want to shit on Marg for the better part of the decade. Then you obviously wasn't following the WW division that closely...That mofo was a beast that nearly nobody was eager to fuck with..

There was only one, that really wanted Marg. And, that was a fellow beast that nobody wanted to fuck with in P-Will.

After that from Judah, to Mayorga, to Floyd, to Oscar, to Winky to nobody wanted to really get in there with the longest reigning title holder and arguably best fighter in the division.

Because the risk didn't out weight the reward. Marg was ignored for the most part of his career. So people not to got to see the subtle things he did well inside the ring.

I doubt it with the statements that you're giving out in this thread.
