It's just 1 more fight that didn't match the hype. It doesn't mean warriors are extinct in boxing or that boxing as a whole is in any danger. People are overreacting. It's disappointing when the world tunes in and it sucks, but there's always another good fight around the corner.

I agree with some of what you said. Back in the old days fighters didn't fight so defensively so fights were far more entertaining. Top fighters in the past would take one to land one, not many top fighters are like that now adays. Most top fighters are the more defensive style fighters. Tho Pacquiao is a rare breed, he'll take one punch from his opponent and land his own punches

David Haye (ya he beats on cans but his running and standing outside the pocket for 99% of the fight = boring)

I remember Tyson used to talk about boxers in the old days wouldnt get paid if they stank out a joint. Jack Johnson didn't get paid for several fights because of this.

        LOL @ this crappy era.
I can't find a single thing any fighter on that list has in common, esp adamek

Shut the f**k up, f&g**t. Who says a fighter can only be considered to be a student of the sweet science if you box, instead of being a pressure fighter.

There are many inside fighters who were great defensively. Of course, going into the line of fire more often than a b*tch @ss like Wifebeater, you're more likely to get hit. But, that does not make a fighter a mindless brawler.

Most people think of JCC Sr. as a face first brawler, but, he really wasn't. In his ultimate prime JCC was a terrific offensive force but his defense was underrated by many.

And at the same time, the people who automatically think that boxers are simply boring are wrong as well. But, at the same time I can't blame them for thinking that way, this current crop of talented fighters we have like Klitschos, Wifebeater and B-Hop give boxers a rep. Because they're just boring as f**K. It has nothing to do with being boxers, they just cheapen the sport with the way they're fighting. Hittin' and holdin' is not the sweet science, it's a cheap move, sorta like Hack-a-Shaq was in the NB*.

you have to be on another level of ******ation if you are watching boxing for science.

I disagree. I love to watch guys who have mastered the sweet science. I think its awesome to see a smaller/weaker guy beat a big strong brawling monster. How can you not be impressed by that? With that being said, some fights do suck but they also had some stinkers back in the day also

And remember this folks... It takes more skills and b*lls to fight on the inside. I can hit and run back all day or hit and hold all day, but are those two tactics a sign of an intelligent boxer, or is it just a cheap tactic ?

Don't get me wrong, folks. i might dislike Wifebeater. But, I'm well aware of the type of boxer he is. He does things in there that no other fighter in history that I know of can do and the understanding that he has of the sweet science.

Besides Wifebeater's great athletic ability, I don't know of any other fighter in history that understands angles and positioning like Wifebeater does. And what's crazy , he's on the mark as far as where he needs to be in relation to where his opponent is, he gets this right almost all the time.
