There have been several Americans that have reigned at the top of the sport since Tyson (Roy Jones Jr. De La Hoya, Mayweather, Holyfield, Whitaker) if you mean that nobody has gained as much notoriety or household name recognition, then yes. But then again, who has?
And the reason you tend to hear "overrated" so much when it comes to U.S. boxers, is because of the monopoly like dominance the U.S. has had on the sport for the majority of the past 100 years or so, in just about every weight class from heavyweight on down.
Americans are simply held to a different, much higher standard than everybody else. Anything short of perfection, is considered a failure, not only in the eyes of non-American boxing fans, but to most American boxing fans as well.Comment

How exactly is the most talent rich nation the most overrated boxing country in the world?
Being overrated is like England in soccer(being ranked number 3 but really being like 10 or so, that's the definition of what it is to be overrated). The only way America could be looked at as overrated is if most people considered it a clear cut above certain nations like Mexico, then you might have an argument but I think most people have acknowledged that some of the world has caught up.

Yeah, ain't this the truth. Lets be honest though people on this site hate Americans. They try to say Danny Jacobs was a hype job for crying out loud! No one in America even knew who Danny Jacobs was when he lost to Pirog but of course to these Europeans the mind set is "Americans thought Danny Jacobs was the second coming". The same could be said about many fighters that they like to make fun of.There have been several Americans that have reigned at the top of the sport since Tyson (Roy Jones Jr. De La Hoya, Mayweather, Holyfield, Whitaker) if you mean that nobody has gained as much notoriety or household name recognition, then yes. Then you have these idiots saying Paul Williams was a hype job. Yes, a multi division champion is a hype job. A lot of people on this site are sickening.Comment

'Which country has the most overrated boxers?'
That is the question.
USA wins hands down due to the number of boxers they produce.Comment

Which is very unfair if you look at it like that. Top 10 or even top 5(but to this site if you aint top 1 youre a bum) fighters don't grow on trees. It takes talent to compete against the worlds best. The way I see it is Brits really do the most overrating of their fighters and I'm not trying to start a war. The top fighters from the U.K really do seem to come up short on the biggest stages. If Cleverly was fighting the very best in the world I'm sure he would not come out victorious(doesnt mean hes a bum) and just like Haye, Hatton, and probably Froch they all came up short in the biggest fights of their lives. I'm not saying these guys are bums, they are very good in fact but against the elite fighters of the world it seems like the fighters from the U.K don't win.Comment
