Personally I think it's unfair to put Louis in a h2h against modern athletes. We're talking 70 years ago that he was fighting, the sport of boxing is completely different in so many ways.

Theres a lot of denial going on here. I think people need to just accept that Slavic genetics match up well with the skills needed to excel in HW boxing.

Its the same with African Americans and American Football. No shame in admitting it.

Look at this chump. Joe Louis oughta be ashmed of himself for beating on this undernourished, unathletic, poorly conditioned, bum.

If he had to fight the caliber of opponent that Vitali & Wlad are accostomed to, who are at the peak of human physical conditioning, and have all the benefits of modern medicine and sports science, he would be no more than a F-Level journeymen. Louis had the convenience of not having to compete with the incredible physical specimens such as the gentlemen below.

I agree it is unfair because Louis would destroy all of todays pretenders. Vitaly is the only one who would give him a fight and thats based on his toughness, but Louis would win going away.

I won't argue with you, because you are a big Louis fan that has seen far more of him than I have, but I just don't think anyone can reliably predict how Joe Louis would do against the Klitschkos. Boxing is different than other sports as far as comparing eras, but 80 years is an incomprehensible time in sports terms. Boxing is a lot different.

Not really... He fought like only two guys above 250, and one was Primo carnera! Most of the rest were comfortably under 200.

the fact is if you threw joe in 2011 and gave him the same facilities, nutrition, sports science etc...available to athletes now, he'd be even more of a beast

however you threw the kilts back in the same era as joe, they would not be as big as they are, they also would not have the knowledge of boxing they have now, wlad would still have a glass jaw and vitali would not be able to dabble in roids like he did....

                      joe wins any era
