The first 2-3 rounds will be interesting...especially if Floyd stands right in front of Ortiz...
Victor's only shot is to catch Floyd early wit a bomb and put him away...he isn't beating Floyd on the cards...
I don't think Victor can shock the world though...it would really be his 2nd time doing so...Comment

When Bob Arum thought that Mayweather would not be fighting in 2011, he publicly stated that " Manny is ready to take the test ".....
LAS VEGAS -- Top Rank Promotions CEO Bob Arum spoke to BoxingScene.com on Thursday regarding the potential for landing Floyd Mayweather for a match up with eight-division king Manny Pacquiao in addition to shedding light on the notion of whether or not Mayweather turned down millions for the proposed mega bout.
So, other than Mayweather and Pacquiao, who else do you think may have a vested interest in not allowing that fight to happen?Comment

Which is more likely genius ?
A repeat of the situation we had 3 years ago back when Ortiz was a green kid and fighting out of his natural weight, or a repeat of his last fight?
Where do you think the safe money is ?Comment

Listen me and Victor are both the same age, and If Vic was green 2(not 3) years ago then he is green now.. As a 24 yo myself I can tell you the mentality I have now, is the same mentality I had when I was 22 because of the fact that was only a year and a half ago..not a long time in other words...and I've always said that I think Victor is still a little to green to be facing some on the level of Floyd right now, I mean..anything can happen in boxing.... but I'd rather see Victor facing someone of Floyds caliber around 26 27 or so when he's really in his prime. age 24 is still like more of an intermediate level range IMO Victor's certainly NO VETERAN by any means and I think we can all agree on that.. 34 yo Floyd by WIDE UD..Comment

Boxing is a learning curve man.
There are fighters who are 30 that are still green, and will not develop further.
Ortiz's style is not a good matchup for Mayweather, although it will take pressure to crack Floyd..... but against a clinical technician like FMj, Vic will pay the price for not setting up his game behind an authorative jab.
It leaves him too open and it limits his opportunities.
In saying that, almost everyone on this site underestimates confidence and self-belief, Ortiz fights well to his style and he is right on top of his game.
It is absurd to look at this fight with derision.
Ortiz is CLEARLY the best opponent for either Floyd or Manny, other than Floyd or Manny.
You could be right that Ortiz is still a couple of years shy of his best, but he has never been on top of his game like he is now, he has never been in a better position to grab that fight with both hands like he is now.
And I suspect that your pick could be correct, but I am sure that Ortiz will have his moments in that fight.Comment

If that's the case, age should start to notice from the middle rounds. So i don't agree with sugar on this !!
Like i say....Ortiz is not prepared for a fight this big. Luv that kid, put keep it real. Too much boxing skills.....Victor does not even have the mental maturity of Juan Manuel Marquez...or the ability to adjust.
Those are critical points when dealing with someone like Floyd.
But... It would be nice to see the surprise.Comment

No, ring rust will show almost immediately, and so would age.If that's the case, age should start to notice from the middle rounds. So i don't agree with sugar on this !!

You are confusing loss of stamina with loss of speed/reflexes/timing.
" Victor does not even have the mental maturity of Juan Manuel Marquez "
Not many fighters in the world today possess the mental maturity of Juan Manuel Marquez.Comment
