Tarver didn't win the 1st fight, but he was the only one to land any meaningful punches. I scored it a draw.
Let's talk about... Roy's chin

Roy has a decent chin. It took 50 fights for someone to even touch him so what does that say. He was hit by Ruiz with a couple of hard shots to the body & head & he didn't go down. With his recent losses people think he has a glass jaw which never was the case. Tarver caught him Saturday with a perfect right hand that would've KO'ed alot people but Jones was able to survive & even come back with his own punches.Comment

P.S. is that the only pic you could find of Roy landing a punch on Tarver? wow, he sure got Tarver good in that one! lol, just like the first fight.
you obviosuly didnt see hte fiht, roy landed many many shots.
roys chin is respectable, but it was never a factor, due his quick refelexs and defense, you cant compare deigo's chin to roys, look what happened to him against floyd, theres just no defense for that...and pbf isnt even a power puncher.
tarver has 24 wins and 18 knockouts, thats a pretty good percentageComment

But what about his chin?Comment

I won't say Roy has a glass chin. He took shots from a heavyweight and didn't really faze him. He took many hard shots from the first Tarver fight and still didn't go down. In the second Tarver fight, my dad threw the most perfect left hand that would have knocked anyone out, especially when you don't see the shot coming. In the Glen Johnson fight, Johnson was able to wear and tear down Roy for the most of the fight and then knock him out when Roy was truly vulberable. In third Tarver fight, my dad stunned Roy with a right hand and an uppercut at the 11th round and still didn't go down. So whoever says Roy has a glass chin are Roy haters, and whoever says Roy has an iron chin are delusional. Roy has a respectable chin.Comment

His chin was strong for a middleweight. Roy has a middleweight's bone structure, and a skull that is small even for that division. He was talented and couragous in stepping up in weight in an effort to find someone to test his skills, but when he slowed down it ended up being a poor career decision after all. He just can't handle a flush light-heavyweight's punch.
Yes he did take some decent shots by Ruiz but he saw those coming and moved with them. You have to be a huge Foreman-esque puncher to take a guy out with a punch they see coming.
He's just too small to be taking these big light-heavyweight punches.Comment

Roy's chin is/was mediocre at best. In fact I would say it's poor. The first Tarver KO was a good shot, fair enough, but the Johnson shot definitely did not warrant a 3 minute coma. And I'm still trying to figure out what caused his 11th round poultry polka in this last fight.
Fact is, he never got hit hard on the chin until Tarver II. And that's both the good news and the bad news.Comment
