  • Comments Thread For: Dawson: My Youth, Workrate Will Beat Bernard Hopkins

Former light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (30-1, 17 KOs) is going to capitalize on the mistakes that were made by Jean Pascal in his recent decision loss to Bernard Hopkins (52-5-2, 32 KOs). He doesn't feel Pascal used his youth against the 46-year-old veteran. Dawson, at age 28, plans to use speed, a very high workrate and the factor of being the younger fighter to defeat Hopkins on October 15 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

The workrate has been missing for the past couple of years now.

Hopefully the last Bernard critics will fuck off after this fight.

Once Hopkins adjusts what is Chad gonna do? It's not like he ever kicks into second gear.

BHOP gona beat Chad in a Decision ...yes chad is a great boxer but i think Pascal was a bigger threat than chad cuz of the speed and power mixed with great athletic talent that Pascal has and still couldn't get the job done against BHOP the guy is that good ..Chad is not aggressive enough to outwork BHOP like Calzaghe did and even that fight was razor close i wouldn't care who won that fight and calzaghe did pull it off but barely ..I have Chad being really frustrated with BHOP's movement Defence and counter punching and inside fighting and looses in a unanimous Decision..No disrespect to Chad he is a very very good fighter and i have a hell of a lot of respect for Pascal as well these two guys r the future at LHW

              Dawson gets hit too much.
Does not have a consistent work rate.
And re sets his stance way too much.
He does not know how to step up the pace and when he attempted, Pascal beat him.

What is this "work rate" you speak of, Chad?

I like this fight alot I see Dawson pulling out with a w here because he's a slick boxer but what i don't like is that this fight is on Pay per View it shouldn't be.

Pascal is not a great boxer, he's a good boxer but his style was all wrong for Hopkins. Dawson fights more like a professional, he doesn't wing his punches, and his not open to counters often like Pascal, and he's faster too. I don't see how Hopkins can win this.
