What fighter has changed the face of boxing?

Currently We have a resurgence in interest over the last couple years. The heated debated of Manny and Mayweather. The Verbal Jousting of Haye and Wlad, The Historically relevant Hopkins and Jones.

What fighter do you think has had the most impact of recent (20 years) has had the most impact on boxing?

I would have to say Roy Jones in his prime, he was a showman a blend of physical gifts as well as the charisma to play to the crowd.

I must say that over here in the UK since Mayweather vs DLH there has been a lot more coverage of boxers from outside of the UK, so I would say their impact has been great. DLH has even been back on TV over here not too long ago and they like to follow Mayweather, and the good thing is that with all fighters covered on any of Sky Sports' shows they tend to focus solely on things relevant to Boxing.

So in the UK I'd say Mayweather has had the biggest impact since Tyson, who still carries intrigue.

When you say "impact on the sport" that is a very broad statement. You have to take into consideration what he has done OUTSIDE the ring as well as inside.

I would have to say Mike Tyson, Oscar DeLaHoya and Manny Pacquaio have made by far the biggest impacts of the sport.

Mike Tyson because he was like a comet who destroyed everything in his path.

Oscar because he was both a great fighter and extremely charismatic and brought boxing to the casual fan.

And Pac because he took boxing to a world wide level. He is known almost everywhere in the world and is loved by people and his record of 8 titles is amazing.

Im not sure about this TBH....Especially in the UK, I believe Floyd is actually more popular than Pac, dont be surprised if Floyd faces Khan in England and has the majority of the crowdm.....plus what has Pac done to bring boxing to a world wide level that Mike Tyson didnt do.......

I remember Wlad Klitscko saying that when he was growing up, boxing wasnt shown on Tv, except for when Mike Tyson fought.......

I truly believe that Ali and Tyson are head and shoulders above everyone in terms of WORLD WIDE appeal when it comes to boxing....they could go to any part of the planet and crowds would come to see the

mentioning pac worldwide is about as dumb as mentioning floyd worldwide. Pac's only influence has been on the Philippines. a specific region is pac's only influence. the rest of the world hasn't changed because pacquiao became popular.

I'd say after Tyson. It was Oscar. He had little pre-teen girls and 70yr old grandmas buying boxing ppv.
