Former three division champion Erik Morales could see himself in position for a title shot in the near future. If the WBC's junior welterweight champion, Timothy Bradley, doesn't schedule a defense of his title in the near future, sources in Mexico indicate that he runs the possible risk of the sanctioning body stripping him of the title. If Bradley gets stripped, then Morales, ranked at third, would face the number two contender Ajose Olusegun for the vacant belt. Devon Alexander is ranked at number one but recently announced his intention to rise in weight to 147-pounds. Morales is going to return on the Floyd Mayweather Jr-Victor Ortiz undercard on September 17.
