He made $52 million for 2 fights according to Forbes, which was good enough to make him the 4th highest paid athlete in the world. He made $35 mil for Mosley, should make that and probably more for Marquez, and probably like $20 mil for Bradley. With his higher profile and buy rate, not inconceivable he makes $80 for a 3 fight stretch.

and mike jones is young but is very un proven. this is from arum who just said the WBC champion is a little green for floyd? but jones is good for manny? shows his respect for floyd. ortiz fought maidana peterson cambell berto harris. much better names than mike jones who got a gift in first soto fight and won a lackluster rematch.
Mike Jones isn't ready for Pacquiao, and Arum knows this. That's why he said 'that's a stretch' in regards to matching them up in the Spring. He's using Manny's name to build up Mike, just doing his job as a promoter. People want to know who Pac is fighting in his next few fights and if you link the name 'Mike Jones' with him, then all of a sudden people are interested in learning more about him, watching his fights, searching for him on youtube, etc. Same thing Golden Boy does with Floyd- when Guerrero, Maidana, Khan, etc win fights, first thing that happens is Schaefer (or the fighters themselves) come out saying they want Mayweather next.

Just a smart way to get people talking about a particular fighter. But I can definitely see Jones taking on Pacquiao late next year after he's tested against better comp.

I think Jones beats most WW not named Pac or Mayweather..But tbh I think he will be avoided by the young WW..Ortiz Berto,Aydin Zaveck and Brook will stay away from Jones imo..

Agreed, Mike Jones does need a little more seasoning before taking on the Pacquiao challenge. Well thought out argument on the subject at hand

IMO, that's who Jones and even Bradley need to target in order to make their Pac lottery tickets more enticing to the public and Manny himself. If they target Zaveck and Senchenko and lift their belts, that makes them legit champions and sets up unification bouts. Berto is targeting one of them last I checked, if he gets a belt, Berto-Jones would be a nice test for both guys.

MJ is one of those dudes whos really a MW squeezing and draining themselves down to make 147, sure he's looking good, undefeated KO'ing these bums for now.. but when he really steps up and gets taken into that deep water 9 10 11 rd against a good WW he'll drown.. the stamina won't be there I can already tell dude always look dry and soft tat his weigh ins, no water dude is a natural 154 pounder...

y would anyone evn spend time arguing who makes more $. Do u really care that much. Its close enough that if they fight it should be 50/50 - which had already been agreed to.

Re Jones. 1st, il continue to be very dispointed if Pac and May don't fight in the spring '12. That being said, although Jones will get crushed by Pac, Id be interested in seein a fresh face, which is why I wanted Pac-Berto in the spring, and like Ortiz as the best opponent for May (besides pac, obviously). Im sick of Mosely, Margarito and all the welters who were real good 5 years ago.
And after the sh** Bradley pulled by not fight Khan after he called out Khan, was offered a career high payday, and half of the British PPV that he doesn't even deserve, I don't wanna see Bradley get a big fight. He deserves to sit on the sidelines for a while, and the winners of Khan-Judah and Maidana-Guererro deserve the big fights. Is Bradley better than Judah and Maidana - definitely, and may be better than Khan and Guerrero, but we don't know. Although Im surprised he pulled the stunt he did, cuz he was always goin after tough opposition (Alexander and Peterson when undefeated, Holt when he was champ, Campbell when he had just unified the lightweight titles, and Witter when he was considered the top 140 lber at the time), but he really ruined his rep, and I hope he sits on the sidelines til '12

no doubt about it. Ortiz has fought Peterson, Berto, Maiadana. People criticized Berto for his opposition, and he fought Ortizm, Collazo, Quintana, and Urango. None were that great, obviously, but all better than Jesus Soto Karass (well Urango and Karass are pretty close), who gave Jones life and death in their first fight. And, if Im not mistaken, Jones is 28 yrs old; I believe he's a couple yrs aolder than Berto and a few yrs older than Ortiz.
At this point no way is Jones better than Berto or Ortiz - at least he hasn't proved that he is.
Jones needs a couple of step up fights b/f he should fight Pac.
The problem is, there arent many fresh faces at 147. and Id rather see Jones fight Pac than the garbage wba champ, senchenko, or Bradley who was afraid of Khan. If Judah somehow beats Khan, which I highly doubt. Pac-Judah would be a good fight - and Judah has the name recognition that Mike Jones doesnt yet have
