So the fact that Williams beat Margarito at his own game using workrate and coming forward didnt impress you? (btw in his very next fight Williams was outboxed much like he was against Lara by Quintana who he later stopped in one round)

It didn't impress me, so he had a good game plan against margarito... Williams height caused problems for fighters.. But I can say that Im not impressed by him and this is coming from someone that wants him to do good.

What gameplan? Dont you get it that his style is his style and the fact that he struggles with somewhat slick southpaws has been known for a few years now already. Please dont think that because he struggled with Lara and Martinez he would struggle with Canelo who fights nothing like those two. If Quintana would have fought Williams before Margarito i could imagine how people would have been saying that Margs was going to kill Pwill.

You know what i dont get is that Williams lost to Quintana over 3 years ago who landed pretty much the same punches Lara landed and people now act like Paul is shot and cant compete anymore. The talk of Williams chin being cracked were obviously premature too being that Lara landed all night and Williams never even touched the canvas. Williams came with the same style he always has and fought pretty much the same type of fight. I know most of you think Williams is shot but for Canelo to go from M. Hatton,J.Cotto and R. Rhodes this will be a huge step up and his matchmakers know it.

Who said his chin is cracked or he's shot?..he's the same fighter he's always been, throws over 1000 punches in 12 rounds and gets hit a lot because he's 6'3 fighting on the inside, it's just that at 154 or 160 he's getting his ass whooped, period.

Canelo needs this step up in competition, Williams is still dangerous enough to make it a great fight, but his style is perfect for Canelo to set up and rock his ass and take him out in an exciting fight..

My point is not who he fought before Williams but with the style he fights in that we saw gave Williams problems years ago and then were reminded again recently against Martinez twice.

I agree that this fight would be exciting and i would like to see it but Team Alvarez wont make it and imo he isnt quite ready.

I tried rooting for the guy... The same way I try rooting for cintron... But I might be wrong about cintron aswell.

Cintron is another dude who struggles with a certain style (pressure fighters who swarm him and dont give him space to get off). Watch both Margarito fights,Molina and even Jesse Feliciano who he stopped late. Put him in with a boxer with a questionable chin and he will most likely look good.
