Are we going to hear cries of robbery every time Matthysse loses by close decision? 28 wins with 26 KO's, but once he starts fighting elite fighters all of the sudden he can't finish the deal?
I LOL'd when Devon's trainer said for him to just hold that mofo. Fugly style to watch. If it was a 12 round fight, and I think it should have been at this caliber, Lucas may have gotten a KO or SD.
At this point, I don't really give a **** who won. The fight was competitive and I'm very thankful for that. I had Lucas winning by a point, but I certainly loved how Alexander ate some monstrous shots and hung in there, eventually fighting hard back. I don't know if it's something you have to feel and know as a boxer, but watching them go back and forth with no pure quit in them was good enough for me. Sure, it wasn't Gatti-Ward, or other fights, but I like to see two talented top-level fighters in their weight-class try to win.
Boxing just like ever other sport your job is to win and that's what Devon Alexander did yeah the fight was close but he pulled it out a rematch should happen but who knows at this point
Good article, i scored it Alexander 1-3, ring generalship and was out working lucas, Lucas gets round 4 on the merit of a kd even though i think devon took control the rest of round 4, brought it back 5, 6 for Alexander 2 of his 3 best rounds, looked like in the 7th he tried to take the round off, got caught and decided to attempt to trade same with the 8th , tried to tradr, so lucas gets 7 and 8, the 9th was clearly Devons best round, lucas looking for the ko outworked devon as he back pedaled, so lucas gets the 10th. This fight sways on one round and thats the 1st, if devon doesnt get a flash kd, we are either looking at a draw or a wider devon decision. Stop complaining, close fight no robbery, no alexander at times and rounds in the fight looked sub par, but lucas is a hell of a boxer to comeback in against after a big loss, licas had his oppurtunities in the 7 and 8 but didnt capitailize and get the ko. There was some round by round momentum swings and those rounds stand out to judge
it sure sounds like the big punching arginetinian was robbed again but i didnt see the fight so im just going on everyone elses comments and the write up !!!
Because I scored it round by round. I'm such a boxing freak that when I watch a fight I actually write down who I think won any giving round and compare my score to the judges.
I bet you didn't do that, I bet you just watched the fight and when it was over you screamed robbery.
Haha I do the same thing. I draw up little score boards and score it round by round sometimes I get other people to do it as well to see what the differences in scores will be. I know it sounds kinda sad but you can get interesting results from it. It can still be difficult to score a very close round though and it makes you realise that judges are just as biased as anyone else. If its an extremely close round you will always give it to a fighter you like the most.
I scored the pac vs Marquez 2 fight a long time after I watched it the first time and I tried to be very very biased when scoring it. I gave every single close round (about 4 or 5 very close rounds) to pac and I had pac winning by 1 round. And that was me trying to be very biased. I guess the best way to score would be to spilt the very close rounds 50/50 after the fight. But since you have to score round by round its hard not to be a little biased on close rounds and score it for who you like. I still think Marquez won the fight but obviously I'm a big fan and gave him a lot of those close rounds. It can't be easy being a judge unless you are a corrupt one lol
As for this fight I couldn't be bother to stay up until 5am to watch it. Will catch it today at some point. Since I'm not a fan of either of them it should be easier to score
