HBO is seriously dumb as hell...

    For two reasons:

    1. Why the hell did they pay Devon Alexander over a million after he ran from Bradley for 10 rounds and stunk up the fight? Not to mention, they paid him that much to do a 10 rounder!

    2. Why was this the main event? Cloud-Mack should have been the real main event. That was a 12 rounder and a title fight where one of the fighters had the potential to be a top 10 fighter, and the other was really upset minded.

I had him winning tonight by a point, but he'll NEVER amount to anything more than a B class fighter. He's like a lower class level of Cory Spinks without the great movement. In a 12 rounder, Matthysse probably would have won (but then again, he did catch a second wind so who knows). Maidana, Ortiz and Khan all beat him. I'd pick Peterson over him too. Actually, that fight should happen next

i agree about the 10 rounder. But i think they approved it,Cause there would
be a chance alexander would fade in the later rounds.

His stamina isn't really bad. Anyone can get tired after missing/slapping Kotelnik's forearms 900 times. I knew this would go the distance, so it really should have been an undercard fight with a split 500k purse. Neither one will go very far, although Matthysse might score a decent win or two in the future. Cloud on the other hand has some potential.

        1. HBO had a clause garaunteeing devon and bradley 1 mill + for each of their next fights , they probably didnt expect the fight to be such a stinker . THe 10 rounder made a lot of people scratch their heads.

        2. Alexander has had more exposure than cloud on HBO and was fighting a superior opponent albeit for less rounds

HBO boxing makes mistake after mistakes and HORRIBLY mismanages their budget.

They overpay for about every single fight they buy.

I remember a PERFECT example of this was a while back when HBO was debating buying one of Ricky Hattons fights. The price was something like 3 million bucks to buy the rights to televise the fight.

They ended up NOT buying the fight, and the next week VERSUS picks up the fight for an embarassing 250,000 bucks...

I nearly SHAT myself. Not only were they about to overpay several million bucks for the fight, but they didn't learn from the mistake and continue to do it to this very day!!!!! It is, however, largely the promoters impunity and hard headedness to blame

I have no problem with the fight being 10 rounds. But in that case it should have been an undercard fight. This would have been like headlining Ortiz-Peterson. Cloud may not have as much exposure, but he has much more potential. Devon had two chances to prove himself. No reason to give him a third.

But then again, I suppose it would be ****** to pay a million for an undercard fight. That's where they originally messed up. They shouldn't have guaranteed him anything unless he beat Bradley.

HBO does have a tendancy to overpay for fighters they are likely get anyway.
But come on, all his potential did not go out the door after one bad showing against Bradley at 24 (Alexander outboxed him in a couple rounds too btw).

As for Cloud/Mack, that fight was more much competitive than it was expected to be. With Alexander/Matthysee you knew more what you where getting.

Ortiz isn't as effective cutting to 140, so no on that one. Him and Maidana is 50/50. And no way Peterson beats him imo. I'll make a bet with you if they do fight.

He had two bad showings. He looked horrible against Kotelnik coming off of a one year layoff after Khan schooled him.

and you wonder why Boxing is dying? Because Bums like Alexander are getting paid millions for being dancers and punching bags and the real action fights we never get because Don King and AL-Haymon bribe/blackmail HBO to pay their fighters crazy amounts of money leaving them no money for other fights. So you have ******s like Berto/Bradley/Alexander stinking it all up. These clowns have no fans.
