If Sturm had thrown in the first 5 rounds, it wouldn't have been close
He looked dazed and bewildered when he came out... especially when he rocked back on the ropes
When he got it together he looked the better fighter, he was never going to lose a split decision though.

Felt physically sick when they called the decision .. a great fight and all the respect in the world to sturm, a warrior he is .. but macklin won .. it was 4-0 start ... shocking result!!

I'm not gonna comment on the outcome b/c I didn't score the fight, just watched and enjoyed it...

Macklin fought a good hard fight and dominated the early to mid rounds. He seemed to be going pretty strong early on but by the mid to late rounds, you could tell all the steam from his punches was gone. The only thing that Macklin lacked was power. He looked good in every other department: workrate, defense and good punch placement especially against the high guard of Sturm...

Sturm, on the other hand, pulled an Aurther Abraham for the first 3-4 rounds and other parts of the fight and more or less, was content fighting in spurts. Frankly I didn't understand his strategy. He was in a defensive shell more the 50% of time, gave away many of the early-mid rounds and fought pretty uninspiring up until late into the fight.

He was clearly the harder puncher and a superior boxer but he lacked any passion and his endurance seemed suspect...

All-in-all, pretty entertaining fight and sure candidate for a rematch..
