canelo wont beat everyone at 154 easy any puncher can ko him he doesnt use defense and throws wide punches hes a decent fighter but until he beats real fighters hes just hype for now
Yeah because he's been beating fake, make-believe, imaginary fighters.
Some of you guys got no respect for the sport whatsoever.
You can say, he's been beating no-hopers[which I thought Ryan Rhodes wasn't], or he's been beating boxers who were outmatched, or he's being brought along with easy opponents. But to just outright say he needs to beat real fighters, is disrespect to the sport. Any licensed pro boxer who laces up their gloves to make a living is a real fighter.
I think his development is moving a long perfectly. What's not impressive? The kid is 20. How many people can say at the age of 20, that they knocked Baldomir out cold? Sure, may be past prime, but the guy always had a great chin and Canelo cracked it. For his age, he's fought some great opponents and outclassed them. Jose Cotto, Baldomir, N'Dou, Hatton, and now Rhodes. ****, he even beat Miguel Vazquez twice, regardless of the weights. Why does everyone want him to be rushed? He's a great testament to what boxing is. He has a sound skill-set and an exciting style. Just because he didn't look fantastic in every fight doesn't mean he isn't a great talent. Think of what he'll be by the time he's only 25? 27? 29? This kid is probably going to accomplish great things if his chin holds up and his mind stays right. Not being impressed because he didn't steamroll his opponents into oblivion is kind of absurd.
Atas is indeed a hater, but he called that **** with Leimeux.
Saying that, he's not really talking ****. And Alvarez isnt even 21 yet, of course he;s untested. On one hand, he shouldn't have the title yet, but on the other, he will probably beat everyone at 154 easily outside of Angulo, Williams, Cintron, and Wolak. And he's got a solid shot at beating all of them as well.... I'd say Cintron would be his toughest opponent, given his style.
I agree with I think what Teddy sees is Sauls performance against J. Cotto as it seemed like a life and and death affair early on. It canbe quite a bitter pill to swallow when guys like Chavez JR or Alvarez have titles but still have training wheels. A huge fight for Alvarez would be Angulo but that fight along with Williams and Cintron will never happen. They should just dig up 40 year old 200lb Winky Wright. At least Alvarez in victory woupd pick up a few tricks from a crafty veteran with feather fist
Lol teddy atlas is just mad that hes not in the spotlight never was. This dude is fckin annoying especially in the Fight Night series wish they just cut him lose and add the dude from WWF Jonathon Coachman haha. Everyime on FNF I hate watching his lame ass fight plans that never even play out the same. He is an intelligent man but he thinks hes the most and thats what annoys me. He hates every fighter its nothing new hell he was ****ting on B Hop so I dont think talking bad about Canelo means much to anyone except the haters who already hate. Canelo is only 20 in 5 years people will be on the bandwagon when hes moved on the bigger and better things. Like someone said N'Dou, Baldomir, Miguel Vazquez (twice), Jose Cotto, Ryan Rhodes, thats a pretty good resume for only being 20 its a learning experience and as time goes hell move on the better opposition.
Lol at PRcotto When did Rhodes land anything meaningful against Alvarez? He didnt because Canelo was slipping and moving away from his punches very nicely. His defense is improving and if you cant see that your just a hater.
Atlas how bout you worry about moving Povetkin along bro? Worry bout your own fighter who is fighting no namers in ballrooms in unsanctioned glorified sparring sessions.
Did I miss something? Because I don't see anywhere in this interview/article where Teddy says he is not impressed! It seems to me like all he's doing is comparing his killer instinct to other Mexican greats... Also, the fact is that Teddy is most certainly right on this one: Canelo showed very little urgency in the Rhodes fight. It seemed like he could've gotten rid of him by the 5th or 6th round. Instead, however, he carried him all the way to the 12th. That's not to say that he isn't a good, fighter, though. I honestly think he's the best 20 year-old fighter out there!
