Nick Charles and I along with Steve Farhood traveled many, many miles together for Showtime Events across the country, as a Ring Announcer, it was always a thrill to have a true pro like Nick throw it up to me in the ring for the Official Introductions or the Decisions at the end of a bout. Nick graced all of us in the biz, and every single fight fan watching at home for so many wonderful moments in the sport of Boxing, and even befor that on CNN. I have a few good personal stories about Nick, but, let me just say this -

Nick Charles, you are irreplaceable on the mic, and someone I have always admired as a Sports Broadcaster. It has been a pleasure to know you, and an honor to call you a friend. I will never forget the words of wisdom that you spoke to me during a show in Maryland, it changed my life, and I thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart. I miss you already Nick, and I love you man, may God Bless you, and ease the pain you have been in for so long in this battle with cancer. Peace my friend, see you on the other side. Your friend Always,
        J.D. Lyons

We lost a true ambassador of the sport. Always a pro and a fighter in his own right may he rest in peace.

I'm saddened by the passing of Nick Charles. He was passionate about boxing and more passionate about life. He accomplished a lot during his time on earth and was upbeat and positive to the very end...

R.I.P. Nick Charles and my thoughts/prayers go out to your family...
