How did Victor Ortiz get slapped around by Maidana, then destroy Berto who is better?

Ortiz wasn't there mentally in the Maidana fight, it was the first time he dealt with that type of situation, had he been mentally stronger he could've maybe stopped Maidana or beat him by UD, he just gave up. In the Berto fight, Ortiz knew it would be a now or never to prove himself and he did, in the Mayweather fight, it will be another big test, if he is mentally strong like the Berto fight he could give Mayweather trouble, not saying that he will win but at least give him trouble. If he is like in the Maidana fight, he will get bamboozled in the ring.Comment

1. Ortiz did not get slapped around by Maiadana. It was a back and forth all out war until the stoppage.
2. Ortiz did not destroy Andre Berto. The fight was still on the table by the 10th round IMO. The judges scorecards were all pretty close and rightfully so, because that was a back and forth fight, except for the rounds where Berto was laying on the ropes like a dumbass, which were about 4 rounds. I had it Ortiz 7-5. Ortiz dominated his rounds way better than Berto won his rounds. So it was not a blow out win for Ortiz. Blow out wins don't make it to top 3 FOTY candidate, and for me so far it's been the best fight this year.Comment

Absolutely, he got sloppy. He went into that fight with the mindset: "I am going to win because I am better than him". When you are an untested young fighter, that mindset will be the end of you. When he fought Berto, he had the mindset of "I'm going to win because I worked harder, want it more, and won't ever stop coming for it."Comment

Those protein shakes are spreading like ants on sugar and I don't doubt for a second that Ortiz is another juicer on the sport. HEY, if it works for the #1 P4P, makes millions.. I can't say I wouldn't.Comment

What he said. You guys act like one fight constitutes his whole character. Anybody can say once a quitter always a quitter but it is up to that man to decide the end results. Hell, I personally think people calling him a quitter actually made him fight like that in the Berto fight. He proved you guys wrong because only HE knows what he is capable of, not the critics.Comment

Styles make fights...is that simple! No need to sit there and try to figure it out. That southpaw style gave berto problems before (Collazo).Comment
