  • Pacquiao thinks Floyd preparing to fight him

MANILA, Philippines – Boxing icon Manny Pacquiao thinks Floyd Mayweather Jr. is getting ready for their possible superfight.

He said this is why Mayweather has chosen to fight a southpaw like Victor Ortiz.

"Siguro (lalaban sa akin), dahil ang kakalabanin niya southpaw rin. [Maybe he's preparing for me because he chose to fight a southpaw]," Pacquiao told ABS-CBN News' Ginger Conejero.

This was the same view earlier aired by Pacquiao's boxing trainer, Freddie Roach.

"Of course, that's the first thing I thought," Roach had said.

Boxing pundits say Mayweather has difficulties handling left-handed boxers.

"Floyd was always reticent about fighting a southpaw," boxing promoter Bob Arum earlier said.

"A southpaw like Manny Pacquiao, he doesn't want no part of, because even if he protects himself from his left, he's going to **** him with his right hand," he had explained.

The Mexican-American Ortiz, however, is no tune-up for Mayweather. He is the reigning world Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight champion.

"Good luck sa kanya [I wish him luck]," Pacquiao said, referring to Mayweather's September 17 fight against Ortiz.

Only fight Floyd will have with Pacquiao is in the Court room, and even then it will be because the Court ordered him to turn up

Why do Team Pacquiao keep trying to perpetuate a rumor of Floyd avoiding South Paws, when it is a known fact that Pacquiao hasn't fought a southpaw in almost 10 years. And people wonder why Pacquiao wants no part of Martinez.

Floyd has more quality wins over southpaws is the last 5 years, than Pacquiao has his entire career.
