If Devon has the same mindset he will lose this one because Matthyse will take him to hell and back.

i suspect that' why he took it.... he could have easily taken a couple of more comfortable fights and won comfortably which would have served to put his name back amongst the top guys in the division, but he chose to fight a tough and rugged opponent after his first loss...

i think it's naive, a loss here would set him back badly.... he should have looked to fight 3 or 4 fights in the year following his defeat to bradley and then assessed where to go, jumping in the deep end means it's do or die and he'll be shut-out of the big fights at 140.... marquez/ morales/ bradley/ khan/ judah/ maidana/ mathysse/ guerrero... a lot of money to be made if you're smart about it....

That's exactly why he took it. The performance against Bradley (supposed to be a career defining fight) turned into an embarrassment where most people saw it as a a clear quit.

Whatever you think about Alexander, you have to give him some props for taking on a Matthyse in his very next fight. Let's hope he comes to fight this time. To quit twice in a row would be very damaging.

Hope Devon wins in impressive fashion this weekend. nothing sweeter than redemption. setback is just a setup for a comeback. gotta give him props for picking lucas to come back against in his hometown. If Alexander gets taken in deep, and has to go to war to win, he will soon be a star. Not many other American fighters these days filling out stadiums. Didn't his fight in the Loo against Kotelnik do like 11k live?

Alexander signed a two fight deal with HBO before the Bradley fight in which he'd be paid seven figures per fight...And for damn sure they aren't feeding Devon a gimme, especially after the no-show against Timmy. NO PROPS to Alexander. HBO isn't going to be embarassed by wasting a precious Saturday night slot with some tomato can, so they are going to make Devon fight a live body who has a pretty good case for a robbery against Judah in his last outing. Believe me maing, Alexander didn't choose Matthssye. He was TOLD he's fighting Matthysse

I'm really hoping and believing that the hometown kid can bounce back with this fight. I won't be able to attend because I'm in a wedding but I expect him to do well.
