Thank you Roy for being a true champion, he came back and tried but Tarver's style was too much for him at this point.
Thank You Roy Jones

hmm
Thank you, sir...for stepping up to the plate and saying the truth. Roy was just too old and he didn't have the speed/power to deal with Tarver at 36. What we now know fur sure is that their first fight WAS Roy's "last great effort".A lot of people are making threads about Roy being shot and he sucks blah blah, so I'm gonna make a thread respecting Roy.
I am happy my dad won. But I also gotta show respect to Roy. I made a thread earlier saying that Roy was irrelevant to boxing, but I just did that for fun. Anywayz watching Roy fight today showed some glimpses of what Roy used to be but with no cigar. The atheletic freak with awesome reflexes and handspeed is now gone. We now have the Roy Jones of today, a still physically fit, decent speed fighter. I still believe the Roy Jones of prior 2003 would beat my dad. But the Roy of now is nothing like his formal self. Roy needs to hang up his gloves and live his next life. He has money, family, a good legacy and let's respect Roy in this thread.
Cong**** to your dad. lol...
P.S. TKODoll, go **** yerself.Comment

The real truth of Roy's downward spiral is his body never fully recoverd from the weight loss following the Ruis fight. Science will prove this a fact. Tarver is a decent good fighter, however he is not a great fighter like Roy once was.Comment

Very classy, just like your dad was when he corrected Larry Merchant and didn't allow him to rip Roy with his drunken agenda.
I agree with every word of your post, and you've said it better than anyone I've read thus far.Comment

I think you're wrong, there, to be honest. I think he could very well have beaten him, and easily done so, had he wanted to; however, he didn't.
Last night closed a chapter in the history of boxing. It was a sad end to such a great career. We should all be grateful that we were able to watch his career, no matter when we started watching it. He was an amazing talent, and no fight now can ever diminish what he did in the past. Regardless of who he fought, it's undeniable that he was an incredibly talented fighter.Comment

The only thing that bothers me is that it seemed like he could have won but didn't want to. It seemed that way, I know thats not true. If Roy could have won and would have done it. Roy is still an all time great and will never be forgotten. And for all the real RJ fans look at the bright side, at least Roy left the ring on his feet.Originally posted by BadMagickI think you're wrong, there, to be honest. He showed a lot of heart, too. A lot of guys would have stopped, or taken a knee after getting cracked like that, but he stayed in and fought.Originally posted by THE TRUTHThe only thing that bothers me is that it seemed like he could have won but didn't want to. He said himself that he didn't have the hunger to fight, and I think that's what the biggest problem was last night.
At any rate, you're right, what Roy has done will not be forgotten.Comment
