Comments Thread For: Bute vs Pavlik Negotiations Have Begun, Says Arum

With Mikkel Kessler heading in the direction of WBO super middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz, the IBF champion Lucian Bute (28-0, 23 KOs) is targeting a fight with former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik. Top Rank's CEO, Bob Arum, advised Pavlik's hometown paper, The Vindicator, that he begans negotiations for the fight on Friday. Top Rank has a close relationship with Bute's promoter, InterBox. The fight would take place in early November in either Montreal or Atlantic City.

Interesting fight, wasn't impressed with Kelly in his comeback, Bute probably could stop him now.

if pavlik can catch bute and stun him i think pavlik can finish him. same for bute - i think he can be the first to really KO Pavlik if he catches him clean.

      very interesting fight here.

This fight might be the first of the planned future fights on CBS.

Pavlik should try to get a tougher tuneup in the summer or early fall, amp up his sparring too. He wasn't all that impressive in his last fight. Looked rusty as hell.

Easy fight for Bute. Still don't class this as a credible opponent for Bute.
