I think they'll be interviewd someday for a documentary about the greatest upsets in sports. That fight is up there as one of the biggest.

Tyson lover is delusional and ludicrous...

lastly, i dont think there is any man alive who was not scared to the bone of tyson around the time he won the unified title.
this part of tysons reign was and will never be matched by another fighter to the point of complete and utter fear of a man.

        Wrong Buddy!

Evander Holyfield had been targeting Tyson since Tyson unified the titles and people were calling Tyson unbeatable and baddest man on planet.
But we all now know Holyfield was afraid of no one and after he unified the Cruisers, he gave Tyson handlers worries to the point they made Holyfield wait almost 2 years as the #1 HW contender and in fact, it should have Holyfield taking on Tyson that night that Buster did, but Tyson delayed fighting Holyfield and was using Buster fight as a January1990 warm up for the Summertime Superfight with Holyfield later that same year. Holyfield would have beaten down Tyson back then too (as he did in 96&97). Holyfield was undefeated and on a mission.

        Also,
You must be smoking the same crack Tyson was!
Buster, for that one night, fulfilled his potential and fought a nearly perfect fight and earned that KO (Tyson by the way showed a lot of chin strength that night) - Tyson just got beat, accept it!
As far as the long count and that sorry excuse, watch the tape, Buster slammed the canvas at the 5 count (cause he knew he gave Tyson the opening and was pissed at himself for making that mistake-he had his wits about him already) and was ready to get up but like a journeyman, he knew to listen to the ref count and take his full time to recover - again showing his awareness. Sure Buster flamed out after Holyfield destroyed him, but Busters one night win over Tyson was legit. Just like Holyfield beating down Tyson physically and mentally in 96&97... and dont start with those silly headbutt excuses - it was Tyson who butted as he was surging up to Holyfield - watch the tape...

Basically it goes down like this:
        Buster-Good
        Tyson-Great(but not in the clutch)
        Holyfield-GREATER!!!

        Nuff said.

No that was a BS post

The excuse that Tyson was physically out of shape for that fight is b.s. He was at his normal weight and was chiseled and ready to go. He had to be in tremendous shape to take the beating that he did and last into the 10th round. The only excuse for Mike and his fans (I am one of them btw) is that Mike was just not mentally ready for Buster to come at him the way he did. Buster surprised everyone with his performance, but no one more than Mike Tyson. Also, whether or not the ref started the count late for the 8th round KD is irrelevant. A fighter only has to beat the ref's count, which Buster did. If you go back and look, the ref took exactly fourteen seconds to count BOTH knockdowns in that fight (8th and 10th round), so their was no bias or injustice whatsoever in that fight. Not sure what Micky1971 knows about the sport, but I'm fairly sure he didn't watch this fight. Buster in no way got lucky in that fight. He was super sharp on offense and defense from beginning to end in that fight; and the end, a beautiful four-punch combo KO, shouldn't really have been as shocking as it was when you consider what transpired during the previous nine rounds. It may have been for one night only, but what a time to bring your A-game. Buster Douglas was an underachiever for sure, but he was no bum.
First of all it was clear that Mike Tyson was not there mentally. Secondly, you detail everything that Buster did as if it was something Tyson never saw before. Heck Tyrell Biggs did the same things only better and Tyson make him pay. Mitch Green and Bone Crusher were twice the fighter as Buster and both were defeated.
Only an idiot who never liked Tyson anyway could walk away saying that Buster did everything no other boxer was able to do him at that time. The kid was only 22 and was dealing with issues kids his age shouldn't be doing at that time.

I remember Tyson saying in his movie that he had not seen him since the fight.
If that was true, it was in error. Tyson and Buster were interviewed together about a week later, for 40 minutes, on HBO by Larry Merchant where they both had a chance to air what they thought were controversial issues about the fight.

Tyson just wanted a rematch, while Buster was hesitant and kept saying it wasn't up to him.

It's possible Tyson doesn't remember the interview given that he happens so soon after him receiving so many blows to the head.

Larry tried to console Tyson that he should take some time and not take an instant rematch, because he felt Tyson thought that he would never get a chance.

That ended up being true because an overweight Buster eventually was TKO'd by Holyfield and then left boxing for almost ten years before vanishing into limbo.
