How could you say Roy is not is Tarver's league. Who was Tarver before he fought RJJ? RJJ's name has been around for the past 15 years and it will go down in history as one of the best. Tarver has been mentioned over the past 3 or 4 years and is not even close to being mentioned as one of the greatest fighters of all time. His name will be like Buster Douglas's name. He'll be known as the man that beat RJJ and it will end there.

I just got through watching the fight and I'll have to tell you, Tarver in no way looked like a great fighter. I really dislike RJJ. His ****iness is beyond annoying. He lost this fight hands down. But, there were times throughout this fight that Roy made things look easy. He was just too damn scared to finish it off and the 11th round is the best example of why he was scared. He knew one punch could end it. To sum this up, it is absurd to say that Roy is not in Tarver's league. Tarver has no league. He is simply the man who beat Roy.

A huge part of Roy's power came from his quickness: the way he used to be able to pivot to deliver a punch (Serious students of the fight game share the opinion that much of punching power comes all the way from the legs, i.e., stance, feet-planting and pivot). Since he lost a part of that quickness to age, he lost much of the sting in his punches. There was that one that hit Tarver on the side of the face in..was it the 7th? But it didn't bother Antonio.

Moreover, I remember vividly a Roy JOnes Jr. who had no trouble hitting a foe from all angles and from every imaginable stance, and some. The Roy that was just seen appeared to have trouble reaching Antonio whenever the latter started backing up. (Isn't it so that the Jones' highlights of the fight involved Jones with his back to the ropes and not in the middle of the ring where most of Roy's previous highlights were?)

Much credit has to be given to Tarver's new-found work ethic (he did not slack in the middler rounds as he was prone to in previous outings) that the result was well deserved by Antonio.

I take nothing from his victory. It was even astonishing why he backed up after putting Roy in deep trouble in the 11th and even said something to the ref as they clinched and the round came to a close (what was it that he said? was he begging the ref to stop the fight?) Did the Leavander incident hover in the back of his mind? Just wondering...

Roy Jones Jr will never fight in another big fight.

Antonio Tarver is better than Roy Jones Jr. No matter how any of you want to spin it, you can't deny it.

Tarver is better than RJJ right now, no question, but Tarver is not great no matter how you put it.

              Tarver 2, Jones 1

              End of story

Tarver beat all of their common opponents where Roy never beat Johnson. Tarver is the better man at the end of the day. Roy is FINISHED, and I am enjoying every minute of this night. I don't even want to go to sleep, I'm loving it so much. This night will forever remain one of the greatest nights in boxing history.

Jones has been fight for 17 years...

Tarver has been fighting for like 7 years...

The Jones before moving up to HW would have KO'd Tarver..
If Tarver couldn't even beat a Jones that fought him in the first fight, he wouldn't stand a chance against him in his prime..

                You're ******ed...

I guess Trevor Berbick is better than Ali?

Kevin McBride is better than Tyson?

RJJ fought for 17 years, moved up to heavyweight, had to lose 25 pounds of muscle...Tarver waited like a lil ***** for RJJ to come back all weak and ****...

He still couldn't managed to beat him in the 1st fight.

That is true to an extent...it took Tarver two times before he beat Eric Harding. He lost the first time by UD. Roy beat harding the first time they fought by KO. Roy has only fought Johnson once. Hopefully it will remain that way.
